It isn't exactly an insult.. it is just an observation of a natural phenomena, the odor of "corn dog" that clings to everything and everyone in Baton Rouge.
Beats the smell of unwashed arse and cat food that all of Alabama smells like.

LSU corndog association is so silly. I had them at the Jiffy Grill in South Carolina in the mid-1950s. I had them in California in the mid 1960s. Georgia in the late 1960s.
Tons of people claim to know the origin of the hotdog/fried cornbread on a stick. From Texas to Minnesota to California all claim to have been first.
I love them, provided they are made with pork dogs, now hard to find. I can handle beef but no effin' turkey.
I could understand LSU supporters being teased about their willingness to eat anything. Every time I was in Huey Long country, I wanted to know precisely what was in the food I ordered. And I despise crayfish....really "craw-fish."
But corndogs? Get real.

It's for Iowa and Nebraska fans - you know - where the CORN is...
It has no basis in fact with Louisiana or Louisiana State University. Never has, never will.
If you personally want to 'embrace' something cut and pasted from Iowa and Nebraska fan message boards as if had anything whatsoever to do with Louisiana State, then be my guest.
And actually, where are most corndogs eaten? At the Texas State Fair. So if any school besides Iowa or Nebraska should be called corndogs, it would be Texas or A&M.
And Jacknola should know that, besides the unwashed arse and catfood smell of ala-shame-a fans so eloquently mentioned above, ala-shame-a UATattoo Skoal Drool Thing fans ALSO smell like: HotCarsOutsideHomeDepot, GayTeabaggerScrotums, and HeadCoachProstitutes......

It's like Gators and jorts. I've never noticed a greater number of jort wearing fools at UF games than any other school in the south.

I mean, it's pretty common knowledge that the corndog thing started with Nebraska and whatnot, but I am not sure it was ever an insult to us considering exactly 0 people have ever taken offense to it. The majority of LSU fans have most likely never even heard it before as it's mainly an internet thing and older fans don't frequent message boards.

Yet, there is no evidence, just LSU fans saying its so....

I find it funny that Auburn stole it from Oklahoma making fun of Nebraska fans aka CORN(dogs)huskers.
We don't smell like Jambaylaya or Gumbo or Crawfish etc...we smell like the last thing that you would find at a gameday tailgate.
But logic doesn't have to apply to make something go viral on the internet.

Tell me this LSU fans. You've never left the state for, let's say, a week vacation and come back and thought to yourselves, hm, it really does smell like corndogs?

Honestly, this is fake news at it's best. You know something is dead wrong when it takes that much explaining to convince a rant full of trolls!!

I have only ever seen LSU fans embrace it fully while on the road. Usually a laugh, and "sure I would love a corn dog."
Auburn is the only real fanbase I have seen use it at a road game though. A little bit at Bama as well.

I love a good corndog...
And it kind of sounds the same as if you're calling someone a hotdog, which has a good connotation right?
