Vernon, FL Wiki page - Vernon is North of PCB
quote:
Vernon gained infamy in the late 1950s and early 1960s due to the improbably high percentage of residents who made insurance claims for lost limbs, leading to an investigation of whether residents of the city were intentionally dismembering themselves for the insurance money. These insurance claims from Vernon, with a population of 500 to 800, accounted for as many as 2/3 of claims nationally
Wiki Page - Strip Search Phone call Scam - True Crime Doc about a guy that lived in Fountain, also North of PCB
quote:
The strip search phone call scam was a series of incidents, mostly occurring in rural areas of the United States, that extended over a period of at least ten years, starting in 1994. The incidents involved a man calling a restaurant or grocery store, claiming to be a police officer, and then convincing managers to conduct strip searches of employees (or, in at least two known cases, a customer), and to perform other bizarre and humiliating acts on behalf of "the police". The calls were most often made to fast-food restaurants in small towns.
More than 70 such phone calls were reported in 30 U.S. states.[1] A 2004 incident in Mount Washington, Kentucky, led to the arrest of David Richard Stewart, a resident of Florida.
Netflix Doc called "Don't pick up the phone." Also, a movie was made based off these events called, " Compliance.

Most of the students have at least 1 parent who is incarcerated.
I know and work in this area very well. I would say North Okaloosa is worse and it's still not all that bad
Reminds me a lot of Livingston Parish. Very nice areas and a fair share of meth heads on the outskirts. To say most of the students have one-parent incarcerated is utter bullshite, though.

They played a murderer a couple years ago and an NBA G league player this year….
The best news story of the year was how the judge who was approving the G League player decided to step down for fear of conflict of interest because he graduated from Bama and was a heavy donor to the school. So the judge who was working the player who was involved with the murder took over the case...WHO WAS ALSO AN ALABAMA GRADUATE.

My wife said to me when we were sitting in a restaurant, "I wish everyone had to wear their occupation on their shirt."
We were at a Character Dining buffet restaurant in HS that was $60 per person before drinks. I was looking at this crew sitting beside us. It was about 10 of them. Man, this crew looked like it came straight out of the Appalachian Mountains. They were ordering drinks, and one of the Aunts (I'm assuming) just got up and started yelling at one of the guys sitting there. "WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A RESERVATION AT A RESTAURANT THAT'S THIS EXPENSIVE! I'M NOT PAYING FOR THIS shite!!!"
