1BigTigerFan... my friend... you should know I do not plagiarize others. In this case I provided a cliffs notes version of the original (link provided below).
And no, "corn dog" it isn't the same has calling someone a "hot dog." The moniker of "corn dog" doesn't refer to whether you like or dislike, or eat or don't eat corn dogs, or even if you corn doggies have ever even seen a true corn dog.
The observation is that Baton Rouge and all who dwell there SMELL like corn dogs. All the vapid breathless talk about "we don't eat corn dogs," or whatever, all the denial and melting and righteous indignation, ignores the ugly truth... the smell of corn dog Proteus bacteria hangs heavy over Baton Rouge ... and that odor causes the rest of the USA to think "corn dog" when meeting LSU people.
It is impossible to deny the connection by claiming you like cra fish or whatever. And the source of the odor has not been identified.. perhaps the water, or the refineries, or the sewage or whatever... but it is undeniably there for anyone to smell.
Here is the brilliant scientific paper that first advanced the thesis that now has gone national and viral so much that even football fans thousands of mile away call LSU the "corn dogs." Much as I hate the thought, the author was apparently a barner.. and this is perhaps the most intelligent article ever written within that benighted landscape.

I doubt many care enough to "hate" y'all. Don't flatter yourself yawyaw, LSU isn't that relevant.

Half the people here have never heard it. Nor do they know that Auburn stole it word for word from a Nebraska joke.

I did notice a unique carnie/fried food smell my only time to baton rouge... it was just in the air seems like it smelled like gameday was kinda exciting... personally I would embrace it just like i hoped to embrace with one of the many beautiful coeds at that game regardless of if she smelled like corndogs, or fish & chips. I love a good corndog any day of the weak... Half mustard and half spicy bbq, mix it all together and you have the perfect corndog sauce.

Some Ole Miss dudes had a platter of corndogs in the Grove and were holding the plate out "taunting" (if you can call it that) LSU fans as they walked by. So I grabbed one off the plate as I walked by and said thanks and the dude got all pissy so I tossed it back to him.
I don't eat corn dogs often but the few times I do they are usually pretty good

Clearly a lie... Om fans are the most hospital fan base on the earth since the beginning of time. BTW corndogs are fantastic when you use a good quality beef dog and make your own batter.

It's unoriginal, nonsensical, and dumb. That said, the LSU fans on here that say it doesn't bother any of them have their heads in the sand. I've seen this thread so many times on here, and it seems that about 1 out of 5 LSU fans that respond just get enraged by this thing...MetryTiger looks like he might be one of them on one of his bad days. I'm not one to buy into any of the little team pet names, but this one is funny as an observer because it really does get to a decent portion of their fanbase way more than it should.

Look man, I was very clear that it unhinges a minority of your fanbase, but it's a noteworthy portion nonetheless. Look at the below post from this thread. Can you really see a Bama fan writing anything on here equivalent to the crazy found in this post, just because he objected to the use of the word 'Gump?' Same thing with all the other dumb names tossed around (Barner, Volunqueer, LegHumper, etc, etc).

It's for Iowa and Nebraska fans - you know - where the CORN is... It has no basis in fact with Louisiana or Louisiana State University. Never has, never will. If you personally want to 'embrace' something cut and pasted from Iowa and Nebraska fan message boards as if had anything whatsoever to do with Louisiana State, then be my guest. And actually, where are most corndogs eaten? At the Texas State Fair. So if any school besides Iowa or Nebraska should be called corndogs, it would be Texas or A&M. And Jacknola should know that, besides the unwashed arse and catfood smell of ala-shame-a fans so eloquently mentioned above, ala-shame-a UATattoo Skoal Drool Thing fans ALSO smell like: HotCarsOutsideHomeDepot, GayTeabaggerScrotums, and HeadCoachProstitutes...

I didn't read your entire post, so I apologize for the assumption that you cut and pasted the entire article. I love that article and find it very humorous. But it was proven years ago when that came out that it was an article written by another fan base, I believe Oklahoma, and this Auburn fan just changed the name to LSU.
I give him credit because it's started something that has taken hold, even if it never had any basis in reality. I've been in Baton Rouge thousands of times and will admit that it does smell, but I've never thought that rotten egg, sewer smell was anything like corndogs. But I could be wrong...kind of like how you never noticed your parents clothes stunk when you lived with them. Then you move out and go back to visit and realize their closet smells like old people just like your grandparents always did. So maybe it does smell like corndogs, but that is fine by me. I love going to the fair and smelling all the fried foods and corndogs are the best.
If your intention is to insult us, there are better words to chose. But there are no "Safe Spaces" in Louisiana becasue we are a tough bunch. Just like I'm sure Gump doesn't offend you.

I think it's hilarious, doesn't bother me or anyone around me at all.
They're trashy and taste terrible, but they don't even smell bad.
Our fan base is the same balance of trashy and normal people just like the majority of sec schools, so I couldn't care less

It doesn't 'unhinge' me at all, o mighty alabama fan.
As a matter of fact, I'm beyond the point of bewilderment as to why it's so vital to the very fiber of your being that this charade means so much to you when you wake up in the morning.
I'm at the point now of simple amusement and sorrow for you.

Not sure what you are talking about? I have never nor will I ever use this phrase, nor will I ever refer to an LSU fan by any other derogatory term- it's just not my style. I just laugh at the aftermath, how it so effectively flushes out the bat shite crazies in your fanbase, such as you. Read my posts on this thread and then read yours, and please, try to make the argument again that I'm the one with a problem or obsession. You're just digging a deeper hole.
