Nearing triple-digit downvotes. That went exactly as expected.
You’ve already hired your guy and you’re still trying to justify what happened with Stoops.
Why do you feel like you have to convince others if you think you guys did the right thing?

In the last few posts, I have said "not a good look" "shitty move", & "A&M acted like a jackass". I am not trying to justify offering and pulling an offer back to another head coach. I am just setting the record straight on what happened because I see a lot of people lying or mistaken.

Couldn't have said it better ourselves.

The word coming out of Aggieland was that the offer was rescinded.
Sounds like folks can’t agree down in Aggieland. That’s great for a program.

This made me laugh.

So you you posted Pat Forde's conjecture "based on sources at A&M."
That'll show 'em, for sure.

It could have been a situation where the verbal offer was accepted in theory but needing approval from the BOR, but the negative reaction caused both sides to decide not to proceed.

The BOR said “We’re fricking this goat, boy. You just hold the legs”.
Fitting ending

this is such a sad thread.
The utter necessity y'all have of being accepted by other fanbases while defending your team's internet honor when anything is said about the aggies is truly something.
Spending $77 million to fire a coach so you can spend $45+ million to hire a 16-9 coach from Duke + assistants, all while your athletic department continuously stepped on rakes in the process, would be indefensible for any other fanbase that isn't as delusional as Texas A&M.

Here’s why we are laughing at the Elmo hire. The message board Aggie beating their chests about all that oil money and how they can just buy whatever ever they want. Turns out you could only afford Elmo. And to be frank, I think you overpaid for that. Maybe he turns out to be great but I seriously doubt it. I’d give the hire a very generous C+ for effort.

Did stoops actually take a flight to College Station?
No. He said he thought about it and wasn't ready to leave Lexington.

I think he’s looking to get out of there…
I think if Michigan or Iowa open up he might leave for them or a similar big10 job,but not likely to an SEC school unless it's Bama or Georgia.

Elko represents a younger, hungrier, head coach
It wouldn't appear that Elko is as "hungry" as he used to be.

Precisely my point as to why Stoops wasn’t hired.

You must be new to the internet. That 653 post count confirms it
This is a forum for people to discuss things, but mostly it's shite posting and subtle trolling.
This post had a big ol hook you just bit like a giant large mouth bass.

Why so defensive? Stoops or Elmo. Either way it’s comical. Do you think that it’s a better storyline to say y’all backed off Stoops and landed Elmo?

This whole story sounds like BS and- if it’s true- it’s even worse for Aggy…
You’re telling me:
1) Aggy offered the job to Stoops
2) Stoops tells his coworkers and some supporters that he’s leaving
3) Aggy supporters and/or Board reject the offer Aggy made
3) Aggy then proceeds to rescind the offer after Stoops has told his coworkers and supporters he’s gone.
This and that's what they don't understand. If I was them I would just run with the narrative that Stoops turned them down, whether it's true or not. It's less embarrassing. This whole fiasco has been eye opening for me. The boosters are running that program. Not the AD. Not the HC. It all makes sense now. How you can consistently have that much talent and still suck.

2 reasons why Stoops would want the A&M job.
Stoops complained about NIL money and lack of talent after getting waxed by uga, A&M can get that talent. He will likely never be able to win the SEC or make the playoffs in KY, he has to know that in his heart by now. No blue-blood school is ever gonna give him that chance either.
He just saw Jimbo make enough money at A&M to insure that the next several generations of his family are all millionaires.
