The media loves to have a villain and Lane fits right in with that.
They absolutely hate that he landed at LSU and are scared to death of what is about to happen to college football.
LSU finally has a legit coach who knows how to dominate opponents.
In the last twenty years, when they've had competent coaching, LSU has been at or near the top of the food chain.
Everybody, whether they admit it or not, knows Lane is one THE TOP coaches in the country and can't stand that they don't have him.
Hence the lies.

A long time ago I happened on a big one coming from my deer stand late morning, and decided to hold his head down with my rifle barrel and cut it off. I thought it best so I wouldn't step on it the next time I came in before daylight.

I was planning to go with three old friends, but went to one's funeral a month ago (quick pancreatic cancer). He was a huge LK fan and requested everyone at the funeral wear P&G.
That kind of soured the whole plan for all of us.
