Not the other way around. And not that it really matters, but facts are facts.

quote:

This was so far down the road that sources told Sports Illustrated that Stoops was telling some staff members, friends and boosters Saturday night he was leaving for College Station. Then something happened.

The word coming out of Aggieland was that the offer was rescinded. At 1:02 a.m. ET, Stoops put out a tweet that said, in part, “I knew in my heart I couldn’t leave the University of Kentucky right now.” Since Stoops was telling people just hours earlier that he was going, Texas A&M pulling the plug on the deal is the more believable scenario.

This was not a populist revolt along the lines of Tennessee (13) nuking the hiring of Greg Schiano in 2017. That was fueled by disingenuous character assassination that Volunteers fans employed with Schiano by invoking ties to the Penn State Jerry Sandusky scandal. In this instance, A&M backers at least were honest about declaring that they don’t think Stoops is a good enough coach, and this veto started in the boardroom.

Who cares are you actually surprised he got rejected by a school that hasn’t been relevant since 1939? Texas A&M is where Can you blame Mark stoops?

Who do you expect us to believe? Pat Forde a former Louisville beat writer and self professed Kentucky hater or The Rants own intrepid Larry Leo. Larry at least cites a primary source in his article.

How rustled do you have to be to make this thread the same day you hired your guy

I don’t think you know what a fact is.

But does it really matter? No. FWIW I believe A&M and not Stoops.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter one bit. This place will rail on your school no matter which story is correct, same as what you would do if it were LSU in this situation — you’re a troll, so you know this game.

Regents and/or big-dollar boosters told Bjork they wouldn’t support the hiring of Stoops, sources tell SI. As a general rule, letting people off-campus decide who your coach should be is not a great strategy—athletic directors are paid a lot of money to make these decisions.

I guess we know why A&M keeps falling all over themselves now.

The boosters are running the program, at least according to the "A&M sources."

Stoops was already making about 9 million a year and I doubt aggie wanted to top that. There was no reason for them to hire him and no reason for him to go there.

I didn’t see any logic in that potential hire at all.

I had no idea Stoops was making Jimbo money this whole time. I knew Lane was.

You should read the stories out there. This one is a headline from a UK writer:

quote:

Mark Stoops passed on A&M in part due to assistants potentially not following
