I’d expect you to have more respect for a guy who spent 12 years helping build the greatest college football program of the modern era as he chooses to make a career change because money isn’t an issue for him. You gave a dumb take which was met in kind with a dumb response

A position coach has the opportunity to move up the coaching ladder. The ceiling is pretty low for advancement as far as S&C coaches go.

the old "we didn't want him anymore" line. Classic bama.

There are some Alabama fans who blame him for the injuries and such. I didn't think it was really legit to blame him.

They didn't. This almost happened last year. Couldn't find him a good landing spot.

Jeff Allen has been sounding the alarm within the football building for a couple of years now. I think he finally convinced Saban a change needed to be made.

To be sure, he's well-liked by staff and like family to the Sabans. Saban has shown he'll make changes even if its cutting a long time member of the staff. He's not old school. He progresses with the times.
Scott's program is outdated.

I'm wondering if he just hates Saban?

No only inbred lsu fans do this.

Rats jumping off a sinking ship. Only a matter of time before he finds his way to BR. Needs a stepping stone gig first though to prove himself

I'm really not. As far as I'm concerned, the injuries we sustained in 2017, 2018, and 2019 were partly his fault. I hope he does well in his new job and wish him all the best in the world.

Bama needed the change, too many injuries. I feel like Something with his conditioning is off, just seems like bama is getting injured every week.

Kinda glad. Bama's S&C program hasn't been elite in years. Cochran got complacent at Bama. With the rash of injuries the last 4 years at Bama, this is probably a good thing for Bama in the S&C program going forward.

Best of luck to Cochran.

I wonder what the hell a special teams coach even does.

I also wonder how being a special teams coach is the same as being another position coach in terms of climbing a ladder.

Seems like Kirby is just hiring his friend to have someone to hang out. I can't blame Georgia fans for not being happy about the hire.

LSU fans have been blaming injuries on Moffitt for years. This year they win it all with very few injuries.....and not one complaint. He didn’t change a thing. Luck and a healthy elite QB will do it.

This. I’ve had the sentiment for a while but have never said anything because I was sure I’d be met with a bunch of flack. He was either working the kids inefficiently or too hard to the point of making the leaders of the team more prone to injury. Can’t be playing teams like Clemson every year with 2-3 defensive starters or big contributing backups in crutches. This is probably a blessing in disguise, whatever troll from an opposing team might spin it.

Bingo. Sometimes injuries are just freak things. Everyone’s team has gone through a year like that and there isn’t always a direct answer to explain it

I get why Cochran is leaving Bama. He has done everything a S&C coach can do at Bama.

What I don't get is why UGA is hiring a Special Teams Coach that has no Special Teams coaching experience. Especially for one of the ten on the field slots. He has never recruited on the road. This is interesting.

Kirby worked with him so he is making an informed decision.

Bama on the decline. Everyone knows it except the Gumps.

Lost in all of this is that our TE coach, Todd Hartley, was the ST coach at Miami. I don’t think Cochran is going to just show up and start playing pretend on his own

I'm definitely not on the "blame Cochran for injuries" bus but I have read enough the last 3-4 years to note that people who know what they are talking about aren't sure his methods and plan have kept up with the modern training/medical advances in the last half decade or so.

Now, is that all Cochran? Is some of it Saban? Who knows. I'll be interested to see if we hire Feld from Oregon or one of the other disciples of the Cochran/Moffitt tree that have gone off and added some modernization to their programs what the difference is.

Still above those pups though.
1980!

Honestly with what Saban done at bama he could only maintain or decline. It is inevitable

Hasn't our S&C coach been the "Get Back" coach on the sidelines? Grabbing Kirby's belt loop to keep him off the field during the game.

Feld would be a great fit; he’s actually from Sinclair’s tree at UGA. But I think he may end up being to Cristobal what Cochran has been to Saban and Sinclair to Kirby
