LSU loses half its staff and most of that fanbase spent weeks explaining why it's no big deal.

Bama loses its strength and conditioning coach and now we're crumbling, again.

Some people like getting outside their comfort zone and challenging themselves.

And some people are LSU fans.

LSU fans are the example you want to use here?

We don't have a comfort zone. We try to fire coaches if they lose a single game

A position coach has the opportunity to move up the coaching ladder. The ceiling is pretty low for advancement as far as S&C coaches go.

Having a staff doesn’t make your job easier. In fact it can make it even more demanding.

And what does he know about Special Teams?

I’m just speculating that’s what he will be doing since that spot is currently open on our staff. But dude has been around the best football program in the country for a rather long time now. I’m sure he knows more about football than strength and conditioning and motivating

I think this is great for everyone but Bama

There is a redwood trees worth of Cochran/Moffitt disciples across the country, many of which have been running big time S&C programs successfully for multiple years. I'm not too concerned about that (actually a little intrigued).

The big risk is the faith Saban had in Cochran running the entire off-season program and relationships.

True but he's never taught football in his entire life.

Disagree on the less pressure point. S&C is a year round commitment and arguably works directly with the players more than the coaches. It’s exhausting and I bet he just wanted a different view after all these years

Pressure from a job security point of view. They often last through several coaching changes and rarely get the ire of the fanbase. Most sidewalk fans don't even know the S&C coach's name at most schools.

And Cochran is a rockstar at Bama. Fans love him. He'd probably have that job until he retired if he wanted to.

What exactly is Cochran qualified to coach on-field? He's been S&C his entire life.

Maybe he's been helping out with Alabama's Special Teams.

Oh shite, perhaps that's why our kickers have been arse for the last 6 years.

A guy with fantastic Sam's bangs who just yells and headbutts people can only advance under kirby or muschamp. Well played, Scott.

Not even mad.

We've been slacking in that department for a couple years now.

I still like him a lot but his star has definitely lost some shine the last 3-4 years, fairly or unfairly.

Guy makes more than top surgeon and most coordinators. He's making $585,000 a year at Alabama right now.

I hope Cochran kills it and finds a 2nd career as an on field guy. He's a great dude who was incredibly instrumental in making our program what it is.

He deserves a chance to try this.

Well. He doesn't recruit. So not sure how you'd know.

There have been rumblings about his off-season program and the rash of injuries Alabama has sustained over the last few years.

This was put into motion as early as last off season. Alabama looking to make changes.

Good for both parties.

One of your most loyal coaches just left to coach for a Sabah understudy at another SEC school...

When it comes to looks - this is not a good one.
