Hasn't our S&C coach been the "Get Back" coach on the sidelines? Grabbing Kirby's belt loop to keep him off the field during the game.
Saban doesn't really use one so Cochran was always Kirby's when he was at Alabama.

I think the S&C coach at Clemson is Venables get back guy too. And Venables will throw elbows at him

Feld would be a great fit; he’s actually from Sinclair’s tree at UGA
Yep - and was at Alabama in 2013-2014 before he went to UNA for a year and then Georgia with Kirby.
They all kind of crossed paths.

Well half the fans seems to have wanted him gone with all the injuries the last few years. Guess we will see if they were right or not.

And what does he know about Special Teams?
I don’t know much but one thing is for sure. I would never take any one from Alabama to coach special teams.

What on-field coach is he taking the place of, considering there are limits to those?
He'll be Kirbys Getback Coach. $1.1 million a year. UGA rolling in cash...

What I don't get is why UGA is hiring a Special Teams Coach that has no Special Teams coaching experience. Especially for one of the ten on the field slots. He has never recruited on the road. This is interesting.
I'm in the same boat. I hate to lose him as a S&C, but I'd be more upset if he was promoted to special teams coach.
I've seen some mention recruiting, and that make sense. He builds good relationship with players, will probably make an excellent recruiter.

Guy just straight annoys the shite out of me. I get that he's a great S&C coach blah blah blah, but I can't imagine having to watch that psycho jump up and down and scream on the sidelines every game.

He’s now vested in the Alabama retirement system with a $500k salary. I don’t think money is a concern for him
To retire under the system you have to have 25 years of service at any age or ten years you can draw a retirement at age 60. I do not know how many years he has and I do not know what his base salary is for retirement, but I know he is nowhere near age 60.

I hope Cochran kills it and finds a 2nd career as an on field guy. He's a great dude who was incredibly instrumental in making our program what it is.
He deserves a chance to try this.
Nice to see this sentiment in the cesspool that is the SEC Rant. Dude was with Bama for what 13 years? I can see why he would want to have a change of scenery and try new things.

Thank you Coach and good luck.
See you in Sept and Dec.

You know you can only have 10 on the field position coaches and Kirby is wasting one on his buddy that has no previous experience in the position.

Wants to scratch that itch? No clue.
The strength and conditioning coach pretty much runs the entire program during the summer and off-season. Typically, they report directly to the head coach and are the head coach's "go-to" guy.
Would you want to be Saban's "go-to" guy? Would you want to run the program in the off-season, to Nick Saban like standards, for $500,000?
Besides, should it not work, he can always fall back in that role.

He's been doing it for 13 years, so, seems like it did him well.

Yea, I've made that point roughly 7 times in this thread.

Cochran knows all the dirt on all the players and whatnot. This is bigger than it looks.
