I’m friends with his wife and she is from Georgia, Augusta if I remember right. Might be part of the reason to be closer to grandparents

"Barring a last minute change"

What does that mean? Trying to get more money perhaps?

He's bailing off a sinking ship before it's too late. He can see the writing on the wall. I don't blame him.

He knows that Saban is a short-timer and on his way out.

I don't really understand this move from UGA's standpoint.

Strength coaches are massively important. Aren't they the only guys with access to the kids 365 days a year basically? I'm wondering if he just hates Saban?

This is bizarre to me. Guy has it made in his position. No pressure, rolling in the money, making coordinator level paychecks, not having to recruit, etc.

Agreed. I think there’s more to this that we’re not aware of yet.

I think Scott Cochran will be the ST coach in name only

Not sure why downvoted, she was on LSU swim team with me for years... but she may have said I’m tired of gumpville and want to be closer to my family. It’s happened with my wife. Always more behind the scenes

Saban just said that Cochran wanted an on field position. Saban wasn't willing to give that to him.

Chris Low @ClowESPN
In talking today to Nick Saban, he’s quick to credit Scott Cochran for what he meant to @AlabamaFTBL. But Saban also told me Cochran wanted to pursue a new career path as an on-the-field coach, which Saban understands, but Saban wasn’t ready to go that route with him at Bama.

Sources: Alabama had a team meeting at 3 p.m. CT in which the team was informed about Scott Cochran headed to Georgia. Alabama football did not let Cochran say goodbye to the team. The team continues the 4th quarter program this afternoon... More at @bamainsider

Nah. He probably would have used the speech as an excuse to walk into the offices and get a snapshot of the recruiting board for Kirby.

If you remember when Einstein went to UGA he asked Scotty to go with him. Saban answered with a raise and other things. Not this time.

You call him Einstein, but Bama has had to pull wins out of their asses both time you have met him despite having a huge talent advantage both times. The gap is erased now and I would say UGA is more talented team now with an equally gifted offensive coordinator and way better defensive cooridinator. See you in September bammer.
