He’s a fifth year who is benefiting from the new rule of having 5 years of eligibility to play 5 seasons.

Lane will push the limits within the rules. It will force common sense among the powers that be who regulate the sport.Changes will eventually be made but it takes someone like LK to get things going.

It doesn’t matter whether the plaintiffs are right in saying the Louisiana TRO enjoins the SEC. Wright’s lawyers could summon countless university Registrars to testify that, regardless whether Wright was in the “transfer portal,” moving from the Cleveland Browns to LSU is not a “transfer” under any university’s admission policies - much less an “intraconference transfer.”

"This is a section in the Louisiana injunction order. All persons acting in concert or participation with the NCAA are enjoined from prohibiting the plaintiffs from competing in NCAA Division I athletics. The plaintiffs don’t need to use the transfer portal to sign with a school and the SEC should tread carefully before taking any action against a player who previously played at an SEC school."

Good point, this would be Wright's 5th year.

SEC will likely argue that they aren't prohibiting Wright from competing in collegiate athletics, just their specific conference. He's welcome to go play for any of the other 120 teams who participate in college athletics.

The holding also required the NCAA and all schools to enter the athletes into the transfer portal "without delay" so not sure why Darren Heitner is saying they don't need to use the transfer portal.

Seems like a lot of fuss over a backup tight end.

After the Chambliss fiasco, there are no more rules. It's a shame.

I think there should be exceptions for these guys that would have otherwise had a chance to play an additional year with the new 5 for 5 ruling...it is too bad the ruling occurred this late in the game.
Current rules. Probable changes should not even play into it.

No rules started well before Chambliss. Heck, LSU itself had multiple 6th year players on their roster last year.

It's all stupid right now, but until some law and order is imposed, if it helps LSU win games in '26, I'm for it.

Good luck arguing in court against the likes of Mars and Heitner about this stuff right now.

When they outline why it will hold up, their averages are pretty good
