That Saban didn't find out the facts and dashed off a letter is probably not true.
This reflects very poorly on Saban given the seriousness of the charges.

Michael Gibson, once a running back for the Seminoles, was sentenced to life in prison in 1994 for his attack on a woman who was shot, raped, robbed and left for dead in her apartment a few days before Christmas in 1993.
Gibson, 30, received six life sentences. Four were for rape, one was for armed burglary and one was for attempted felony murder.

Oh you're leaving out the best part - Gibson's younger stepbrother was a highly recruited HS player (Ernie Sims III) who coincidentally signed with FSU.

I remembered he was recruiting someone in his family, but couldn't remember who. There really wasn't a bigger slimeball than Bowden.
