I would have at least liked a little back story as to how thats possible and who he is.
He is a legit badass, and one of the best villains in the entire book series. He has honor, in his own mind. But he has no qualms with taking a contract and just not fulfilling it, because he finds a higher bidder.
Without spoiling anything, he is very, very important to Ciri's story going forward.
