Kenny Chesney and Kelsea Ballerini are from Knoxville, and countless country musicians are fans of the Vols.

Just another cool fact about the second most prominent program in the SEC!

As long as LSU fans don’t try to claim Ben Simmons.

What is the deal with hating on Tom Petty? He was born there and formed his band in Gainesville. Left when he was 24 to try and get a record deal in LA. I think he worked at the university for a time period, too. Why wouldn’t Gainesville claim him as their own, guy is a hall of fame rock star.

He went to Gainesville High School. Benmont Tench's dad was a judge in Gainesville.

14) Theresa asked: Can you tell us a prank that one band member has pulled on another band member at some point on the road or in the studio???

I once had a sampler for a guitar effect on stage but when I stepped on it I realized someone had replaced it with a guy yelling, "GO GATORS".....most of our pranks aren't repeatable here.

Mike Campbell has played with a Gator guitar on numerous occasions. The connection is obvious.

i'm pretty sure that if he never worked for the university, we wouldn't be having this conversation right about now.

I like Tom Petty but I’m not a fan of playing “I won’t back down” at every home game. I mean, the guy left Gainesville in the 1970s. That’s even further back than 1980!

viously they're reruns because he has been dead for over three years, but it is a bit freaky how the show is played as though he is hosting it live from the Great Beyond

That would be awesome.

Where did I say anything negative about Tom Petty? I own every album.

This here is Florida Gators trying to claim him as their own.

Tom Petty didn't give a shite about Gainesville.

He is Gainesville's own dumb arse.

Most people living in L.A. are transplants.

Jimmy Buffet learned the guitar at Auburn. I think he only survived one semester before flunking out. Can we claim him?

When I went to SC (1978-1983), I had a professor at SC that graduated from Auburn. He said he had a class with Jimmy Buffett when he was at Auburn.

There's a whole history with the Heartbreakers and all the talent coming out of area like Don Felder and Bernie Leadon of The Eagles, or Stephen Stills.

I know he spent time in Gainesville and will wear anyone's jersey but the fact remains that he was student at LSU.

I know you got upvotes from Tiger fans but he was born and grew up in Gainesville. Kind of easy to connect the dots.
