We seem to have access to utilize our military from Greenland. There are some benefits that go with that, without doubt, but it's not the same as getting the entire country without payment.

Far more likely that their attack on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea pipeline that is fully restricting exports to Europe is forcing other countries to get involved with Iran so America can help Saudi Arabia with the Houthis.
