I think the Auburn/Kentucky winner on February 29 wins the league.

Maybe tie for it, but you have to factor in Kentucky having to go to LSU and Florida. They could very well win both of those games, but most would expect them to give that game back in the standings.

5. Alabama (10-8) (18-13)

I have a hard time seeing Bama get in with a 18-13 (10-8) record. I am assuming if Bama is projected to go 10-8 in SEC play, it has the season ending like this:

@ Auburn- LOSS
LSU- LOSS
Texas A&M- WIN
at Ole Miss- WIN
at Miss St.- LOSS
S. Carolina- WIN
Vanderbilt- WIN
at Missouri- WIN

If it were to go that way, Bama would be just 2-7 on the season against Tournament Teams (Wins over AU and MSU; Losses to RI, PSU, UK, LSU, AU, LSU, and MSU).

Bama would be 1-2 against other Bubble Teams (W over Richmond; L's to UF and ARK).

And most strikingly, Bama would have four losses to teams not in contention for the NCAA Tournament: Penn, UNC, Iowa State, Tennessee.

I just have a hard time seeing a team with 4 relatively bad losses that have to therefore be overcome with big wins getting into the Tournament if they are 3-9 against opponents who are at best in consideration for the Big Dance.

I think Bama would need a few wins in Nashville to get in at that point.

Every single away game for us should be considered a toss up. It’s been a while since we’ve won any game by double digits. I like our chances with the remaining schedule though.

Alabama would definitely have to beat one of the #1-4 teams in Nashville to get in I'd think. Then, it would depend on the bubble at large. 19-14 with a Top 40 NET, a Top 25 schedule and 2 Q1 wins would very much but us in the grey area of limbo that would depend on mid-major results and other bubble teams. A lot would also depend on how Furman, Belmont, Stephen F Austin and Richmond finish their seasons. Furman and Richmond have some opportunity to bump up given their leagues have other multiple Top 75 NET teams (ETSU/UNCG for Furman and a RI/VCU/Dayton/SLU for Richmond).

The good news for us is that the SEC Tournament would come at a time where (theoretically) we'd have a healthy Herb and a week of rest to hopefully be ready to make one last push. Either way, it's an uphill climb. Losing both the games last week pretty much made it that way.

Bottom line, main concern for us is building on finishing a close game in Athens. The tournament isn't really in the picture at the moment IMHO.

8. Arkansas (9-9) (21-10)

Losing Joe has really put Arkansas on our back foot. Worse he played for a lot of games where he clearly was not up to speed. We can't afford, this year, to lose his points but they've been missing for more than a month.

As of right now I think Arkansas is out of gas. A small bench and injuries have sapped this team. Next year that shouldn't be a problem but this year it will be.

If we have a good shooting night we can beat anyone in the conference. We can also, however, lose to anyone in the conference if we have one of those prolonged dry spells we've been prone to.

Last game of the year, yall will come out vs Bruce, and who knows, we may not be playing for anything at that point.

We have never come out vs. Bruce before.

We played about as well as possible against UK but the bottom line with this team is they are too limited in terms of perimeter defense and shot making to beat any team with a pulse.

Roster will be overhauled in a big way come April.

No clue what to think of this team at this point other than WTF how do you lose so many questionable games with all that talent. White having a really bad year with no real excuses. They havent even really dealt with any notable injuries. Mann missed 2 games and Lewis 1 game, that's about it.

Hopefully Vandy isn’t shooting the ball like they did against you guys! Good lord, they looked like the Warriors out there for a while.

I think kenpom is a fraud. We will revisit this "prognostication" at the end of the season and see where things stand.

I think the country has already decided the SEC is trash this year and is going to minimize the number of teams in the dance.

They have kept Auburn, LSU, and Kentucky underranked at every opportunity.

For one of the second tier teams to break through - they will have to beat one of the “top 3” which will, in turn, lower the perception of the SEC even further.

I think this is a 4 bid league this year. I disagree with it. But I think that is what happens.

The league dug their own grave with such a bad showing in the non-conference across the board.

Auburn didn't beat anyone of note, Kentucky lost to Evansville and LSU lost to ETSU, VCU and Utah St. That's what people see when they look at the SEC, unfortunately.

I see them winning two more SEC games unless Joe comes back healthy. If that is the case then they will be on the bubble come SEC tournament time. They need a win bad against Tennessee or muss will look like he lost this team.

You just never know man, LSU ran into a red hot shooting Vandy team on a Wednesday night in Nashville. These are college kids we're talking about. They're gonna have off nights.

What in the hell are you talking about? He inherited a team of guards. We literally do not have a single big man on this roster. On top of that, Isaiah Joe is injured/out, Jimmy Whitt Jr. has a back injury he's playing with, and we are paper thin on depth (what he inherited).

It's a damn miracle we have won as many as we have. That's due to coaching. When we get the #5 ranked recruiting class in here next year, watch the F out.

These next eight games are rough. The Missouri game showed signs of quit. They didn't collapse but they are close. Muss wasn't happy with the effort. The rumor is that he made the team clean up the restrooms. But that is just a rumor.

Muss has done a good job with this team but the next challenge is keeping them together and that is a big task. These close games need to be wins instead of just another moral victory. Good coaches can still lose the team.

To be fair, Mississippi St only recently discovered they were a very good basketball team. It took them about 15 games to figure it out.

My basketball groupme seems to think if SC wins 6 of their remaining SEC games, they could get in with 20. I dont see it.
