Pete Golding, just how good or bad will he be

I really haven't paid much attention to his performance as a coordinator. What are the odds Ole Miss made a great move naming Golding as top dog?

It will be a noticeable step back this year but still solid then they will be back to mediocrity or worse within 2-3 seasons.

He has an a+ so far. Looking like 9-3 give or take a game this year with a tough schedule. If he can rebuild the offense going into 27 then I think he was a great hire. But too early to tell. This is a stupid question right now.

We were told by KlanU that losing Lane was addition by subtraction so why should Ole Miss faithful accept anything other than a slot in the title game this season?

It’s more likely Chambliss regresses, they lose more games than last year, and have major issues than winning it all. The NCAA could also come back after the first game and slap their dicks for going to a judge for eligibility.

I think Ole Miss takes a step back this year. But, Golding didn't exactly take over the best situation. They seem more concerned about getting back at LSU than they are having a successful season. I think that stuff wears off pretty quick and Golding keeps Ole Miss relevant to the back end of the playoffs for the next few years. Kiffin built a winning culture there. That's not just going to disappear all of a sudden.

OM will have another good season. The QB is top shelf and they have some solid pieces around him.
It’ll be interesting to see if they can continue to draw the level of talent two or three years down the road.
I would add that Pete most certainly has the upper hand on Lane, having coached against his offense in practice.

I think he has done a great job so far but I think the pressure is on for sure in year 1. But what SEC coach doesn’t have pressure every season?

I’m guessing he will be as good, maybe slightly better than Matthew Luke.

I think we are going to be very very good. Defense is going to be legit.
Schedule is tough as hell so probably 10-2 or 9-3,
Will make playoffs or just miss by one game.

Best case scenario he provides the perfect continuity to make a run with Chambliss and Lacy.
Worst case scenario: he’s never been a great DC. He now has handed that over to a guy in house. Kiffin and Weis have left and JDB has never called plays in the SEC and his offense at ECU was pure volume. This things could go off the rails quickly.
Realistically I think they have a disappointing but good season thisnyear and the wheels really start to fall off.
he eventually will sacrifice the tempo for something more defense friendly because when you’re a defensive
minded HC and you’re team loses you better at least have a good defense.

Ole Miss alumni aren’t even leadership material on the Klan.
Ole Miss would come in 2nd in a loser competition.
