Probably not.

It's absolute BS, we spent 20 years trying to get FSU into the SEC. Don't get trolled by an obvious alter.

You know Florida better than I do.

I heard otherwise. But those were Georgia sources claiming solidarity with Florida.

If you go to 8 team divisions, that would mean Texas in West

And Oklahoma to the east

Which would disrupt the least number of rivalries possible. You'd have:

West : East

Alabama : Tennessee
Auburn : Georgia
LSU : Florida
OM : Vanderbilt
MSU : Kentucky
Texas : Oklahoma
Arkansas : Missouri
A&M : SC

Every essential game is played

You think Arkansas football is on the same level as OU and Texas?

Pretty sure Arkansas has won the last several games played against Texas. Haven’t played OU in a while.

So basically, yeah.

Heck of a travel schedule for OU for their yearly games if you go that route. LSU has all its games within a 4 to 7 hour drive.

This problematic issue is the fault of the dumbass leading the SEC...Sankey srewed up royally by signing a contact with ESPN w/o ANY escalator clauses based on expansion...hard to understand how ALL the SEC team admins. apparently MISSED this important aspect of contract negotiations. The only possible explanation would be that the entire conference let the 'genius' form LSU handle the matter himself i.e. Verge Ausberry...lol

They're the furthest west and somewhat north for the SEC. But they would have:

Missouri
Texas
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

In relatively close proximity by SEC standards (for a school in Oklahoma). They are a long way from Baton Rouge and the Mississippi schools too.

The geographical compactness of the SEC was destroyed by the addition of Texas and Oklahoma schools. A 9-10 hour road trip each way is what you get if you drive from Baton Rouge to Norman or Columbia (MO or SC)

That may be the case NOW but it certainly wasn't back then.

OU to the East and a texas to the West should be obvious.

It’s perplexing to me they don’t just do that. It’s really not that different from what we have been doing.

Kentucky's Mark Stoops is probably the most vocal supporter of sticking with eight, noting that the school's annual in-state rivalry with Louisville of the Atlantic Coast Conference means the Wildcats are already locked into at least nine games against Power 5 opponents.

This is such a bitchass position. Oh, you play ducking Louisville, so you couldn’t possibly also play Miss. State too? Already playing 9 Power 5 opponents? Uh, you’re a Power 5 team, maybe it’s okay to actually play other Power 5 teams instead of rent-a-win directional school. Just scared to maybe finish 6-6 instead of 7-5. Of course when the schedule falls right and UK misses most good SEC teams they might be able to go 10-2 and they can’t chance losing that opportunity.

Also not sure why we let those programs in a year early. If we think we can get a better deal one year later then why not have Texas and Oklahoma wait that extra season?
