Since espn is not paying more for 9th game
Sec trying to save face and keeping that as a future bargaining chip
Can revisit in 25 and see how it impacts playoffs

Might as well just have two different conferences at this point. Next time LSU will play in Athens will be in 2032 prolly

I just can’t see them move the Red River Rivalry from October. Isn’t that the only time the State Fair is open??

Or A&M and Texas can play each other OOC in Jerry World in 2024. Both schools only have 1 P5 OOC scheduled for next year.

Stupid to stick with the pods idea and only have an 8 game schedule, but whatever. This may be self preservation. They know the SEC champ typically gets beat up like hell along the way as it is.

We already play Arkansas in Jerry world and we haven’t renewed our contract. If we keep Arkansas annually we will probably keep it there, every other year probably not. A lot of change is coming for everyone, not just us.

ETA: can teams SEC teams play each other in a non-conference game and have separate tv money?

It needs to be 9 games, but I understand keeping that as bargaining chip for more $ and ESPN not getting it for free

Also the State Fair of Texas runs from SEPTEMBER 29 – OCTOBER 22, 2023.
