The SEC plays for keeps.

It’s a league where good teams can come out on the other side with 3 conference losses.

It’s a league where if you have success the other teams will pick apart your coaching staff like buzzards but not just to get get better but to make you worse.

It’s a league where most the conference has comparable facilities and booster system in place.

It’s a league where most teams have multiple NFL prospects on their defense that will blow up your offense if you get a few injuries on your OL.

Welcome to the SEC boys.

I think the cold reality they’re currently facing is just how much the remaining B12 teams hate them.

You make this sound like they didn't already hate us

Trust me, Texas fans are used to it.

OU is going from having the 2nd largest stadium capacity in the Big 12 to having the 9th largest in the new conference.
That's bottom half.

Damn that is sobering.

I don't have anything fueling my dislike for Texas, other than the fact that while there's nothing in this world that orange can't make uglier... that Burnt Orange in Austin is literally vomit-inducing.

I live in Texas and even here we do not care about Texas Athletics. Like nobody really gives a shite about UT.

It was strange when we joined the SEC and everyone was giving us hell for the state of our facilities... we had the fifth largest stadium in the Big 12 (after Texas, Texas A&M, OU, and Nebraska) and we were definitely in the upper tier of the conference in terms of our athletic facilities overall. We've dumped hundreds of millions into (mostly football) upgrades since joining the SEC and our stadium is still one of the least attractive in the conference. Our training facilities on the other hand are world class now and continue to improve.

I think the fans/booster/administrators at Texas are unrealistic to the point of being delusional of where their football program is.

That will keep Texas from allowing a coach to rebuild at a place that has everything needed to be a top program. I have no idea if Sark is the guy for the job but I'll bet we will never get to find out, same for whoever they end up hiring next year.

I think being beaten down in the SEC will give them some much needed humility. Which will help them in the long run.

It's definitely an arms race. I would say every team in the conference has made serious commitments to football except Vanderbilt of course.

When Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss started to really invest in football they left Vanderbilt in the basement tier alone.

I think OU needs a really good start in the SEC. Once you fall down it's kinda of hard to get off the mat unless you have some inherent advantages. OU kind of loses all theirs with this move.

All 3 teams tied for 3rd in the west would probably win every other division in CFB except the B1G eastern. Texas already sucks. Riley might have torpedoed OK at the worst possible time.

Riley was saving his own skin. He could see the writing on the wall with OU's move to the SEC. They could bully the B12 around with Texas. But all the advantages they had in that conference disappear the minute they join the varsity. They are in danger of becoming another Tennessee - a program steeped in tradition that relies on out of state talent to feed the machine. That's fine when your only real competition for north Texas high schoolers is Texas.

LR got out while the getting was good.

Yawn, and another one. Can somebody please point to the evidence of boosters or outsiders not letting Sarkisian do his job? By all accounts, he has complete control of the program, and the people in power are behind him.

I'm pretty sure the Texas fans that needed humility the most got a healthy dose of it this season.

If that had been posted by someone legitimately in the SEC other than you idiots, it would actually be funny. Like Texas, Oklahoma, and Mizzu, aTm is just lucky to be here. You are not, and never will be one of us. Arky gets a pass though.....

This was discussed ad nauseum on the Old Rivalries board on TexAgs in 2010-2011...when dumb sliver of East Texas Aggy made the decision to go to the SEC.

Those dumb frickers refused to acknowledge it then, but now find themselves following us to greener pastures.

Both are in for a big surprise.

There are very few "week off" games in this league. If they thought games in Morgantown in front of 50K were tough, hold on to your hats.
