Not to defend an (alter, I think), but your program doesn’t have to win championships every year for you to have an opinion….and winning titles doesn’t necessarily make your opinion better or valid.

That works out for him about 9-10 times a year, which is good and all.
BUT about 2-3 times a year he plays teams that play tough, fundamental football with some dudes in the trenches and his team gets smacked in the mouth.
If he wants to win a championship he needs to at least attempt to get some guys that can blow people off the ball.

Grading at this point is just dumb. You need 3 years to make any determinations.
Look at Riley for example. He took a title ready team at OU and blew a sure win vs GA in Rose Bowl with stupid tactics. And got worse every year until he finally didn’t even win conference. And he stole CW to take with which is why they won so many thus year. He left the cupboard empty in way out.
Venables had to further scramble to save what he could of that class and lost both 5* qbs plus many others. He may have finished 6-6 but lost 3 games by 3 and 2 were B12 refs and one was unlucky bounce wlse its 9-3 and people look at them differently. But his 23 class is top 5 and it will take 2 more years to see what his culture and house cleaning does.
Every program with a first year HC took over different circumstances. You can’t grade any new HC until 3 years to see how their culture and recruits do. Venables systems are 180 from Riley and you have to use wrong type system players first amd second years. Some teams had some talent and only needed a qb or a few players to improve. Thats what Riley did at uscw. Opposite at OU where BV walked into declining players and then lost top takent during coaching search. But now has a top class to go into 23 with. Riley class is not top 10 amd CW is so good he makes any team get 3-4 more wins than they would without him. Last years OU team was a 6-6 team but CW got them 4 extra wins.
You have to look under the hood to see whats going on and these coach rankings are click bait in year 1.

Pretty spot on except Freeman deserves a C- at best. I’m also a Notre Dame fan and have been very disappointed in his hiring as head coach. Great defensive mi d, but not much else.
