The SEC East

The SEC East was shite outside of Tennessee and Georgia.

1 or 2 elite teams in a division doesn't make the division "tough."

I'm not upset about anything. It's a SEC football forum and I'm just commenting on the topic. Which is grading coaches in their 1st year.

How many pages have you been at this?

You and other LSU fans are just upset because I pointed out that Brian Kelly's big accomplishment wasn't really as big of an accomplishment as you guys are claiming.

So that's what this boils down to? You can't accept that we're reasonably happy with this season and you just need to piss on our opinions?

If you're old enough to have been a fan back in the 70's and 80's, then you need to grow the frick up, manchild.

Every time I ask you to quantify your statements you instead deflect and build strawman arguments.

Odd.

Because you just keep asking to quantify the statements for the simple purpose of ignoring the points previously made.

And on top of that, what you are asking to quantify is in itself absurd. Ranks up their with sleazeball Bill Clinton talking about what the definition of the word "is" is.

It's just deliberate ignorance, and I have better things to do.

I knew it would devolve into sleazeball shite with you, I don't even know why I bothered to respond to you this far to be honest.

I haven't followed this thread, but I actually agree with you.

The SECW this year was not great, but it's not Brian Kelly's fault that Saban was not able to keep him from winning the SECW
in his first year with a roster cobbled together with duct tape and baling wire

Now if you tried to make a similar argument about 2020 Alabama's competition, he'd get whiplash so bad it would snap his head clean off.

The top 2 teams were better, sure, but was everybody else really better than the rest of the west?

Well, Ole Miss turned out to be over-rated. Arkansas also.

Alabama had the talent, but the coaches had their heads up their asses.

Texas A&M was #6 preseason, turned out to be a 7 loss team.

Auburn was shitty and fired their coach.

Miss St was the 3rd best SEC West team I'd guess, but they lost to Kentucky by 10 points, throttled by Georgia.

So Tennessee and Georgia beat the top of the SEC West. Kentucky beat the shite out the 3rd best.

And your argument is that on average the West is better? So are we comparing A&M to Vandy or something to come to this conclusion?

Zero "points" have been made.

You've made some statements, failed to back them up, then devolved into emotional responses when questioned about said statements.

And more deflections.

It's not his fault, no doubt.

Alabama wasted a shite ton of talent this past year and was the most poorly coached Alabama team I've seen since Shula.

I didn't say that, I just don't think there's that much of a difference.

But I also don't think the SEC West has been the absolute best division in football.

It's been bolstered by Saban's program and a few good to elite LSU teams.

That should be the big takeaway for bama fans, and everyone else in the SECW.

I would have bet the farm myself that it would have taken BK at least three years to win the SECW.

Folks like yourself in the SECW are scared-THEY SHOULD BE!

The only thing I'm scared of is Saban trying to do that stupid arse 1 and 2 defensive lineman fronts again that allowed SEC teams to rush for over 4 yards per carry.

The thing with the SECW is you generally can’t roll out bed against the Mississippi schools and you’re going to have at least 2 really hard road games.

Most other divisions have 1 tough road game a year max and a couple or bottom dwellers who can be counted on to be REALLY bad most years.

It's not just the defense, IMO Saban has become enamored with a pass happy offense that doesnt try to break the will of his opponents.

That leads to softer teams on both sides. The last two years I have not seen an LSU team stand up to and even beat bama at the LOS. Think about it.

Kelly: B
He exceeded expectations, but will likely end up with 5 losses.

Freeman: C+
For all the reasons others have stated in the thread.

Venables: C+
I don't think people really understand the level of dysfunction Riley left at OU. Between the players that declared due to the coaching change, the players that portaled, the players that Riley took with him AND the recruits he took with him. Venables salvaging of the 2021 recruiting class and use of portal to get Gabriel kept OU from losing 8 games. This year he put together a top 5 class and is again doing very well in the portal. I think that gives him a bit better than a D.
