Wasn't there a pretty popular "Person of Color" that enjoyed promoting using the Confederate Flag and Colonel Reb for a while. Not too long ago I reb he passed away.

These idiots are wearing a team uniform and are representing the university. If they want to exercise their first amendment rights they need to do so as INDIVIDUALS on their own time and NOT at the expense of the school. Kids doing this will absolutely ruin sports for everyone. Perhaps this is their real goal. frick them and whoever encourages them. Protest on your own fricking time. I would remove their scholarships and kick every last one of them off of the team.

Now this I don't get. Ole Miss may have their fair share of douchebags but the fact is that they are an asset to the SEC and Oxford is one of the all time great college towns.
The Confederate Flag does nothing to rustle my jimmies and I think the basketball players should not have disrespected our anthem, but the fact is that EVERY SINGLE SEC (or name your college) campus is full of misguided, uneducated people that would pounce all over a group of marchers in support of the Confederate Flag.
If you don't believe this, read pretty much any campus newspaper and then read the Twitter feeds of the editors of said paper. This would have happened at many places but because it OLE MISS, the focus is greater.

I'm totally Independent with my political views but I think this is the best answer so far.
It was a peaceful protest but when you kneel for the anthem people most anyway take that as a sign of disrespect to our flag and country.

You’re creating that narrative. They didn’t say they were kneeling to disrespect the American flag. It is your opinion that kneeling is disrespecting the flag. That isn’t their belief. Your interpretation is not by default the correct interpretation. It’s like telling someone else what he created isn’t art. Says who? They said they were doing it to protest the racists. I’ll take their word for it. Frankly, it’s absurd that anyone is equally or even more offended by the kids protesting racists than they are by the racists.

I’m not offended by them kneeling. I just think it’s asinine and something that totally overshadows whatever they’re protesting. It’s a terrible way to make your point.
