So that means they'll STAND, with their hands on their hearts, when the band plays "Dixie"?

Maybe put your mental energy into your gameplay. Win the game. Then when a microphone is put in your face, maybe voice your displeasure with the rednecks outside.

Throwing shade on the Flag of the country that provided you the opportunity to have that platform is distasteful to most Americans.

Their very presence on campus does that for them.

Believe it or not, we don't live in 1963 anymore. Their views and ideals are no longer in vogue.

Plenty of people had no idea they were on campus. Count me as one of them. Now I know, because of these players.

I do find it interesting people get more fired up about players peacefully protesting than them beating the shite out of their girlfriends.

Them beating their girlfriends is typically not broadcasted or performed in front of fans. Unless you’re Rice or Reuben

Sadly they are to enough people that it makes a difference. Otherwise we wouldn’t have open editorials in newspapers asking for the Klan to ride again with any kind of support.

Not that it really makes a difference but they weren't protesting downtown...not on campus.

It's not like that editorial appeared on the front page of the Washington Post. It appeared in the Democrat-Reporter of Linden, Alabama - a city with a population of just over 2,000 people. Not only that, the guy who wrote the article resigned and was replaced by an African-American.

And yet, he still felt comfortable enough to run it. Kudos to them not putting up with it, but we both know the Klan is still alive and well in parts of this country because there’s enough people to support them.

He felt comfortable enough to run it because he was an idiot. Even in the small town of Linden, he was ostracized and forced to give up his editorial page. He'll now live in shame for the rest of his life as the guy who argued to bring the Ku Klux Klan back into the limelight.

There will always be remnants of our racist and bigoted past living in the shadows because there will always be racists living amongst us. That being said, the Ku Klux Klan numbers between 5,000-8,000 members as of 2018. Compare that to the 5,000,000 members it had within its ranks in the mid-20s.

Things have changed for the better, but they will never be perfect because there will always be people who hate those of us who are different.

How come the only time the KKK shows up in Mississippi, it's either on a movie set, or in Oxford?
