It’s really weird when you argue that the players are representing the university and then the university and coach stand behind their actions because a bunch of necks decided to threaten anyone who disagrees with their ideology while demonstrating on the campus these athletes call home. I feel like we should agree on speaking up and taking action when people you don’t want and don’t agree with come to your home with threatening intentions

It is absolutely thier right to protest. It is also absolutely disrespectful to the men and women who have died for this country to give them those freedoms. People can like it or not. Agree with it or not. When you disrespect the anthem by kneeling people view that as disrespect to the military people who fight for our freedoms.

This is incorrect.

I wrote this in another thread, but felt it applied here as well, because you are wrong in linking these protests and the military.

People need to stop equating kneeling during the National Anthem to disrespecting the military.

The National Anthem does not belong to the soldier, sailor, Airman or Marine any more than it belongs to any other American, whether a teacher, police officer, homeless citizen, or lawyer.

I serve—and have for a decade and a half—but I understand the oath to support and defend the Constitution is an oath of service...not a down payment of labor for future recognition in connection to national symbols. Simply, flag-related protests are not discrediting service members because the purpose of the National Anthem is not to honor us.

Optimistically, I hope that these young men understood the increased range that their message (of opposition to the outside agitators on Ole Miss’ campus) would receive by their chosen method of protest. Even if this was not their entire reasoning, it is fully within their rights to express themselves.

My military status doesn’t give me any greater opinion on the National Anthem than any other American’s opinion, but it gets really old having people feign outrage on my behalf. Would I protest during the Anthem? No way in hell, but that’s my choice.

Nobody is feigning outrage on your behalf. Some people love our country and respect the flag. Just because you enlisted for a paycheck doesn’t mean you are one of them. You are cool with shitting on the flag. That’s your right to hold a stupid opinion. Many people have more patriotic views.

Drizzt you don’t know me, nor am I ok with “shitting on the flag.” If you read my post again, you’ll see that I love this country, respect the flag, and was clear in that I would never protest during the anthem. I also “didn’t enlist for a paycheck”; I actually joined the service after obtaining my degree and while working at an A&E firm in DFW area. We took a pretty big pay cut as a family when I took my commission.

My point stands.

Oh you’re commissioned but trying to speak as if you represent actual enlisted guys. I should have known from your celebration of kneeling during the national anthem you were not a person who did any actual work in service.

Quote where I represented anyone but myself or celebrated kneeling. I decoupled two issues that shouldn’t be linked, then gave a plausible explanation for the actions of the team. You intentionally misrepresent my comment because it suits your stance.

I get tired of guys like you feigning outrage for all Veterans. Your support of disrespecting the country (and don’t forget Kaepernick’s pig socks going after cops) is in the minority of Veterans. Please just say you are cool with shitting on the flag/anthem next time and leave your commission out of it.

Are you planning on misrepresenting everything I write? Feel free to quote that also...

Call it like I see it. You jump in to defend disrespecting POSs, you get the horns.
