I don't think it was really targeting either, but the SEC has no say in the suspension. It's an NCAA rule. Trying to void it this one occasion would open up an insane can of worms. Sucks for White but he's not playing the first half. All you can do is demand they fix the rule next year.

It was a bad call. I was surprised it was upheld. That having been said, it's over.

Alabama had NOTHING to do with it.

Except it wasn't at the head/neck area. It was at his chest.

Therefore, not targeting.

If we're going to call what White's hit was targeting, then there's bout 10 targeting calls every football game. He did nothing wrong. Mack Wilson's hit on Guaratano was more "targeting" than this and that still wasn't really targeting.

Devin White also launched himself into Fitzgerald. Another point for targeting being the correct call.

No he did not. He has a foot on the ground when he's hitting him with his hands into his chest.

Again, Mack Wilson's hit was more "launching" than White's hit.

I've seen your interpretation of the so called targeting hit and the rule, so don't question my intelligence.

The only contact was with his hands to Fitzgerald's chest.

I am not a conspiracist. It was just a really bad call

Targeting is designed to determine the outcome of games. Don’t kid yourself. It has nothing to do with player safety.

It wasn't even roughing the passer, much less targeting.

You SJW's are such pansies.

I think the targeting rule is stupid, it's ruining the game.
The review official should have to state what he saw in play that his decision was based on.

Was in his chest but I guess in Awbarn it’s all the same. Kiss your sister bye and get to work digging them ditches buddy.

I believe because of the way the rules are written they made the correct call. What needs to happen is the way the rules are written needs to be reviewed and changed. Do I think what White did had any chance of injuring himself or giving Fitz a concussion absolutely not but by rule that’s targeting. He should have just lowered his shoulder put it in his gut and drove him into the ground. That is perfectly legal. There’s no need to shove a player or contact them high just so you give the refs no reason to call targeting.

Haven’t really looked at this that closely but if what you say above is true it’s a good thing we got him pulled for the first half- kid sounds like a freak.

I have been thinking it was definitely a late hit but probably not targeting, unless his hand or forearm hit Nick in the neck. Which this photo shows happened. Good call.

I think anyone with a fair mind will agree this was not targeting. Devin White never has been a dirty player. The only thing I fault him for was getting caught up in the moment and standing over Fitz.

Here's an angle that shows where White's hands were when he made contact. They're touching Fitz's numbers.
