How is that bull shite? That was the easiest unsportsmanlike call I've seen all year, those two LSU players were acting like jackasses
I'm talking about the first year they had the targeting rule. If they threw a flag for it, reviewed it and determined there was no targeting, it was still a 15 yard penalty even if it was a clean hit. That's what I mean by bullshite. Not talking about any specific play, just the rule the first year

Except earlier in the same day, 2 players celebrated together in a very similar and clearly rehearsed fashion and only one flag was thrown.
So when the benches clear and a flag is thrown, I’ve never seen 200+ yards of penalty placed against the team. It’s comsidered 1 act always.

so pushing someone in the chest is targeting.
It clearly is when you go for the neck with your hands. That's why it was called targeting.
It's not even debatable, that according to the rules, it was a targeting foul.
Whether it SHOULD be is another matter, but it is, and the call was correct.

My bad. I've seen some LSU fans today say they thought it was BS they got the unsportsmanlike on top of the targeting. Guess I read through your post too fast and thought thats what you were saying.

Y'all are either blind af or outright delusional to convince yourselves of the things you claim to see when you watch that hit.
I clearly see his hands hit Fitz in the chest. I also clearly see he never launches himself with both feet off the ground.

Except his hand hits him in the shoulder first

Initially contact was to the chest. Anything beyond that is incidental.
Sorry but your little still shot of halfway through the tackle, doesn’t hold up.

Interesting you say that. Another point for targeting being the correct call in this case as the rule explicitly states:
Does that mean calling it on the field or after the review? Because I’ve seen it called on the field when in question and then reversed on the review.

Wait a minute. Looking closer at that pic also reveals that Whites hand is actually in his own face mask thus meaning his forearm is in Fitz’s chest.
Clearly shows his pinky finger well below Fitz’s neck.

It wasn't a terrible crippling blow, but I could see the penalty being upheld.
White went high. He needed to, to affect the pass; and Fitzgerald's a tall guy. But in today's climate, going at or above the top of the numbers is risky.
Also, he did hit him after the pass, which also is iffy nowadays.
It's not the football we grew up on, but it seems to be the way the game is called now. You used to be able to harass the QB some to throw him off his game, and it does seem like they're trying to weed that out now.
I don't like it, but I think he's out. I do think the refs were looking to throw the flag- not to affect the upcoming Bama game, but to send a message for the defense to tone it down.
