The only reasons Stoops would leave are:

He and Cal both win the SEC, then the school gives Cal a Caddy and Stoops a Zippo.

Auburn will be open before too long. He's better off at Kentucky than Nebraska. Nebraska would end his career. If he wants a big name job, he's better off waiting and building UK.

In Nebraska he wouldn’t have a basketball coach reminding him it’s really a basketball school

Fans for the most part sided with Stoops over cal, and Stoops is getting the facilities he wants while cal isn't

So, less danger than when bear was here I guess

Allegedly he's been in the running for both FSU and LSU in previous years
If true he must like UK

That's a fair point. My counter would be - if you took a poll of the fanbase ? Stoops is more popular than Calipari. And I think Calipari knows it.

If you look at the high school support in Kentucky ? Kentucky's been a football state for a while now. Kentucky actually makes a few 4 star recruits now, yearly. That wasn't the case twenty years ago, when Kentucky really was a basketball state.

Those kids all play football now.

The best part is how much Nebraska fans showed their arse when they hired Frost.

They were the next dynasty.

eh, I don't remember Husker fans "showing their arse" or assuming a dynasty was imminent.

you can't blame them for being excited for that hire and optimistic that Frost would lead them back to national prominence. on paper, that was a slam dunk hire.

Come on now, man. We don't deserve that. Let us have him a few more years.

Hope you do, I just think he’s on the list. He fits your program. He fits the big10. He may get offered substantial money. Hope you guys throw him enough or he’s comfortable enough in turning down Nebraska should the offer.

I think he’s done a hell of a job from afar and suspect others have noticed.

Personally I hope they come steal Wesley Goodwin while his hype train is steaming because I don’t believe. Hated the hire and think it’s dumb. I won’t get that lucky and even if I did Dabo would just promote someone else within instead of an established elite coordinator.

Also, hope Venables has a ton of success. Don’t blame him. Seems like a good, but hard nosed dude who will win and have the players love and respect.

More than anything... Stoops seems happy at his job. He's not getting shite canned if he doesn't win 9 games every year. He lives in a very nice area. He can coach as long as he wants to (barring an out of blue downturn for the program) and retire as a beloved figure.

I think he's fine with that. In fact I think that is what he wants. I think Stoops wants to end his career at Kentucky. Like Pittman I think he is all in.

Venables seems like a quality dude. I think he'll do well. But I've been wrong before.

Nebraska has more money than literally every single school in the sec, including Alabama. Add to that the new B1G contract and they could easily afford to pay a coach $15M/year if they wanted to. So when you ask “what coach would want to coach there?”… Hell, you could fail your way to generational wealth…

Right. I think Nebraska will surprise some people and hire a legit coach.

Them firing Frank Solich for going 58-18 in 2002 is the worst mistake in cfb history

They were spoiled. Solich wasn’t Osbourne but he was a solid coach.

Alabama will do the same when Saban is gone. Soon as his predecessor has one subpar season they’ll want him gone

Obvious answer here for 'Skers is to open up the wallet and go get Aranda.

Your Stoops or Bob, because there's next to no chance that Bob would go there?

Nebraska facilities are ok, none of their athletics programs are atleast decent. If they have “all the money” they damn sure are not wasting it on athletics. And there is no reason to believe they will this go around.

They need to dump a ton of funding into the student athletes experience, jump on the NIL train, hire a builder type coach, and be patient. They are so far behind the curb that they will likely not reach the level of good in a decade.

If I am hiring for Nebraska:

1) Dave Aranda
2) Matt Campbell
3) Urban Meyer
4) Tom Herman (yes, actually a good fit imo)

and my personal favorite..

5) Jeff Traylor (this guy has built UTSA into a good team out of nowhere.. he knows how to build a program and motivate his kids.. and the dude can recruit and is one of the best coaches out there. Whoever gets him will be getting a home run hire.
