re: What are the chances that Sanders doesn't even make Cleveland's roster?
Posted by rbtgoodson on 4/27/25 at 1:36 pm
Extremely likely. The current theory is that the Haslam's forced the pick on the staff. Watson can't be cut for another two years, Flacco is their veteran backup, and Gabriel is their preferred choice (with reports that they secretly flew out to Oregon to meet with him before the draft), so that leaves Kenny or Sanders to be cut, and if I were picking between the two to salvage my season, I'm keeping the QB who's fresh off of a SB win.
re: Who goes first: Ewers or Sanders?
Posted by rbtgoodson on 4/25/25 at 10:48 pm
If I had to guess, it'll be Ewers. The Raiders spent a lot of time with him (from what was reported), and even with Geno, they still have a need for a backup QB. At this point, I don't think Sanders will get drafted, or if he does, it'll either be as the last pick of the draft as a FU to his father, or Dallas will take a flyer on him to cash in on merchandise sales.

I think Dallas will take him as a backup merely to sell retro jerseys with the Sanders name on them.
re: Who wins between UF and Houston?

I think it'll be Houston. Florida was lucky to even make it to the Final Four, and Houston just took out, in my opinion, the most complete team in the tournament.
re: When the SEC Adds More Schools, Who Gets the Call?
Posted by rbtgoodson on 4/4/25 at 2:51 pm
Outside of the ACC collapsing, I don't see the conference going above twenty teams, and with the rumored list of targets being UNC, UVA, and FSU, I would prefer to add Tulane back as the dance partner for FSU. That being said, I would be fine with some sort of combination (up to a cap of twenty-four universities) that includes: UVA, VA Tech, UNC, Duke, Clemson, GA Tech, West Virginia, FSU, Miami, Tulane, Rice, and Texas Tech.

Why should this be our problem? Furthermore, the Top 4-6 conferences are, eventually, going to break away from the rest of the division, so this is just the expected outcome going forward.

A 'classic' that was barely played before divisions.

Oregon and Washington being in the Big 10
While I agree with you... in theory, it's nothing more than a western division for the conference, and out of all of the moves, Pac members joining the B1G has some sense of tradition.

Stanford in the ATLANTIC coast conference makes no logical sense.
Yes and no. Obviously, the name should be changed, but Stanford joining with Notre Dame has more than enough history, and truthfully, one of the very first mega-conference proposals (in the 50s/early 60s) was for Cal, Stanford, Notre Dame, Washington, Pitt, Penn State, and the service academies, etc., to create a nationwide conference to mirror the Ivy League. To a limited degree, the current ACC fulfills that vision.

re: Auburn's Bruce Pearl to Indiana? His buyout's reasonable and workable
Posted by rbtgoodson on 2/8/25 at 3:26 pm
Publicly, he has admitted that Indiana is his dream program to coach, and if I'm being honest, I have to admit that statement. However, he's retiring at Auburn, and in my opinion, is chasing his legacy above all else (once he retires, the arena will be named after him, and if he wins a title, he'll enter into God-tier among the Auburn faithful). That being said, if he were younger, I could see him taking the Indiana job, but with him being on the backside of his sixties, he's not starting over.

That’s amazing.
What's amazing about? Depending upon the metrics being used and the era under consideration, your program is a cellar dweller, or at best, slightly below average (which is what I said). Arkansas and A&M are the only true, middling (average) programs within the conference. A more accurate list for this topic would be:
Elite (Blue Bloods): Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas
Above Average: Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee
Average (Middling): Arkansas and Texas A&M
Below Average: Missouri
Cellar Dweller: Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt
re: Anyone hear about UNC to the Big10?
Posted by rbtgoodson on 2/8/25 at 2:51 pm
No. ESPN owns their a**es until 2036, and even then, everyone and their mother would prefer the SEC over the B1G, and if the conference can get its act together, the ACC over both. The Locked On podcasts are only fishing for clicks.

Your 'Mids' list is incredibly sus. The only true mids within the conference are Texas A&M and Arkansas, and when you factor out Kiffin's time at Ole Miss, their program is the very definition of cellar dweller. Additionally, I have no idea why you even have South Carolina and Missouri listed as a 'Mids' program, too. At best, they would be in the gray area between cellar dweller and mids, and that's only due to receny bias.

re: Crazy Idea to replace Bowl Games, thoughts?
Posted by rbtgoodson on 2/2/25 at 8:30 pm
I want to add the Citrus and Music City to the NY6, and I would be fine with scrapping the rest of the bowls. That being said, an all-star game and NFL combine for the conference would be welcome additions.

re: Should Bama cut Milroe when it's time to renew scholarships?
Posted by rbtgoodson on 1/2/25 at 1:07 am
No. However, I would encourage him to declare or transfer. KDB can't hitch his career at Alabama to a player that he didn't recruit.

Eventually, the earlier rounds will be folded into the conferences as they do semi-finals for the conference championships. (This has the added bonus of properly seeding the conferences for further selection into the CFP, too.) When the B1G and SEC are responsible for over eighty percent of the revenue and sixty percent of the viewership, there's no rationale for sharing as much revenue as they currently are under the new, CFP format. The SEC would rake-in the cash with a rotating postseason in Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville, and New Orleans.
