Nebraska fans are truly upset

For the Aggies, this is a home-run hire. It's extremely impressive that Texas A&M's leadership, led by first-year president Gen. Mark Welsh III, managed to pull Alberts away from his alma mater, and pulling this off must've been expensive. In less than three years at Nebraska, Alberts has emerged as one of the more influential ADs in the industry. In College Station, he won't have to lead dramatic stadium renovation projects like the one he was facing at Nebraska. He can focus on helping the Aggies chase championships and usher the athletic department through these turbulent, transformative times in college athletics. An AD with a strong football background should be especially beneficial for new coach Elko and his efforts to build up a College Football Playoff contender. - Max Olson, senior college

Championships and Texas Aggie athletics do not belong in the same sentence.

Has TAMU ever made a hire that wasn’t a home run?

I assume you are being sarcastic.

Pulling this off was easy when you just throw a shite ton of money at it. That really hasn't worked well for you lately though.

Remains to be seen. He's supposed to have a good handle on NIL.

How many football wins is he worth?
AD smack is right there above women’s basketball, softball, and gymnastics posts.

The fact Nebraska fans are extremely butthurt indicates he is probably at the least a competent hire who personally played football at a high level.
Both OM and A&M were high fiving when they got rid of Bjerk. So T. Albert is 90% likely to be an upgrade.

It absolutely has to be either 1. Money, 2. Something pissed him off at Nebraska, or 3. A combination of both.

Probably as upset as State fans were when Auburn hired Cohen (a State alum) away from State…..

Could be that he just wanted to develop his professional growth. Dude had never been anywhere in his adult life except for Omaha and Lincoln.
I kind of think Collin Klein did the same thing when he finally got off of K- State's tit.
And despite all the jokes and trash talking. A&M is a pretty solid landing place.
For an AD that has interest in chasing the Director's Cup... A&M is one of the few places where that is a possibility.

It’s a very solid get for A&M and yeah, I’m pretty butthurt about it.
Trev had just signed an extension that doubled his salary and by basis of the terms would’ve kept him in the top 3 among B1G ADs. So not Aggie money but Trev wasn’t going to be worrying about saving up for trips to Aldi or Goodwill anytime soon.
Sounds like some political games among the Regents and a continued void/uncertainty of clear future direction and vision with no new president yet in place up in Lincoln plus a very appealing and defined vision presented by Aggie President Welsh helped make Trev’s decision (the extra money certainly didn’t hurt but I don’t think it was THE factor in Trev’s case).
Anyway, A&M is gaining a guy that values relationships, hard work and being aggressive. I think he’ll prove a good fit.
I’m bummed because he was an all-time favorite as a player at NU and he’d brought a sense of vision, stability and unified purpose, which, in its now short time, was a nice return to something we used to have year after year in Lincoln. But that’s not the world we get to live in anymore. I’ve never thought Ruhle a lifer up there but I imagine his own departure will be sooner rather than later now (though I do think he will continue to put 100% of his heart and soul into the team while he is there).
So, sucks for NU and A&M should be in pretty good shape now with your AD role.
GBR.
