I grew up in South Georgia and also lived in Jax for over 10 years. Some observations:

1. Most UGA SGa fans are that because A. someone in the family went to UGA or B. It's the flagship state school and they grew up rooting for them with their family.

2. Yes, there are a lot of SGa fans that attend the Jax game but never make it to any Athens games. Tickets can be found if you want them and they do.

3. There is a large number of UGA fans living in Jax. It is the largest city near Southeast GA, so many SGa people end up working there.

4. Even if they don't go to the game, the SGa fans get to see the UGA fans traveling through to the game, which is pretty cool and helps build that relationship.

5. There are a number of SGa "lost children" who had no UGA roots and started pulling for UF or Alabama when they were good just to be different. Now the UF ones are stuck with it, especially for this game.

I have been to many GA-FL games and do love the atmosphere. But the traffic and parking continue to get worse. The UGA students treat is as a mini-spring break, with a big party on St. Simons. It would be a shame to move it, but it would also be cool to have a rivalry home game every other year in Athens. So I am ok either way.

For those who think this game would be the same if it were played in Athens, you're wrong. It would lose a lot of prestige and would eventually become like any other SEC game between good teams. The teams hate each other, but the neutral site location makes this game special.

You don't hear Oklahoma fans bitching to move the Red River Shootout out of Dallas.

It definitely wouldn’t be the same, which is why I hope Kirby doesn’t get to make this call alone.

They definitely do not. OU fans come down I-35 and I-75 like an invasion from the North.

Maybe move UF-FSU to Jax, probably won’t happen for same reasons they are giving up Cocktail Party game.

The only thing that would change would be the lack of a October beach vacation for some fans.

Of course not because half their roster is from Texas...it's HUGE game for them to have a presence down there.

I hate this argument because it is just completely short sighted.

The game has an incredible impact on South Ga and Jax economy.

Fans who just don’t want to make the trip or are unable to land tickets; yet go to Athens all the time are the ones who want it move.

Both Schools make more money with it in JAX; this is not debatable

Both schools have extremely large and generous donor bases in South Ga and North FL; who want the game in JAX; this is not debatable.

This is debatable; however I believe the game will more than likely not be guaranteed the 3:30 CBS slot Halloween weekend. The game would prolly get moved date wise around. The rivalry from a general following of the game will be relegated to only watch if it’s important from must watch.

Hey do understand the recruiting issue; however how many elite recruits are at a given home game( serious question ?). But more than likely these recruits both schools are going after ... so what’s the best that can happen the recruit is at the home school one week and then goes to the other school the next.... does the game outcome really impact it.... the experience... I would think being invited to see UGA play ND or TexaM this year to see game day would be just as good. And taking your own trip to SSI to se the party Halloween weekend in your own should sell you pretty good.

Still doesn't change the fact that 75 mi. is still considered a home game for Fl..

Put it this way, had it always been played in Atlanta, would you tell Fl. fans "tough" if they wanted it changed?

WHY would the name WLOCP change due to who plays in Jax.? EVERYBODY knows that is Uga/UF. It's like saying people will start to think the Iron Bowl is between Vandy/Ky..

Say WHAT? People are mostly fans of a team due to their family being fans.

There would likely never be a better sec matchup on that day, which is why it would not get moved around date wise, nor would it not be the 3:30 cbs game.

No it’s not a home game...
UF doesn’t get 55,000 tickets compared to UGAs 10,000. It’s a 50/50 split.

UF arrives the day before after a 90 min bus ride to stay in a hotel... UGA does the same after a 90 min airplane ride, that’s pretty nice; and paid for by Jacksonville.... in what world do the players notice that the game is a home game for Florida... does UGA nit wear red jerseys every other year if not every year; do they not call the toss every other year; is the crowd 95%florida fans,... does the field have the Florida logo at mid field.... NO... the game is a neutral site game... it’s only bothersome to whiners who don’t want to travel to Jacksonville!!

Why would where a game is played determine when it's played?

Don't bring up the bs Auburn issue because the SEC created that mess making UGA travel back-to-back years. Without that move, we'ld still be playing them in Nov..

Good then. Let's let Atlanta host the game from now on & you present this them & see if they'll keep it there.

The point STILL REMAINS: 75 miles vrs. 300 IS NOT neutral for 1 team.

That's like saying if UCLA & UGA had a rivalry that was always played in San Diego. You still think that's fair for the Dawgs?

"in what world do the players notice that the game is a home game for Florida"

The players that have to board a plane to get to the field vrs. the other team who takes a bus.

"does the field have the Florida logo at mid field"
Doesn't mean you can't paint the WLOCP at Athens or Gainesville.

& you're a whiner who can't see the SAME points CAN BE MADE at having the game played in Atlanta!
So why does it have to stay in Jacksonville?

The same folks that go to Athens go down to Jax and most fans want to keep it there.CKS is pushing the move and Mcgarity will go along with whatever he says.

So let's move the AU game to Atlanta and UT game to Nashville if both cities will give us the same deal. Why not? We'll make more money, correct?

"Extremely Large" sorry,I don't but this.I would bet the VAST MAJORITY of season ticket holders and big donors are from metro Atl and quite enjoy the game in Jacksonville.

So AU/OM or Arky/MSU will take the 3:30 game?

No it won't and there's not one shred of evidence it will.

Good Lord don't be SO dramatic...at the very MINIMUM the game gets an ESPN slot and will more than likely still be on CBS.They game gets viewers because it's Ga/Florida not because the game is in Jacksonville.

Well if you are going to pull the neutral game up to Atlanta, we may as well pull it down to Miami instead of Jax. Tons of Gator fans in South Fla who would love a short ride to the game. This way they won’t have to drive 6 hours. Works both ways.

Or we could leave it on the border.
