I’m almost certain JAX lines up another annual game.

Remember when FSUcks was going to play annually in Jax and the first game they were upset by Southern Miss and never scheduled another game in Jax.

I bet if you poll S Georgia fans, you would be shocked regarding the number who have been to the WLOCP.

I bet the percentage of fans who have attended dwarfs the percentage of fans in north georgia who have attended.

I bet you're exactly right. What's your point though? You are claiming if the game wasn't in jax that those same fans would no longer be uga fans. How can you back that up?

I bet a ton of them have, but I doubt it’s meaningfully higher than the amount that have been to games in Athens. It’s not that far away.

Sure. It’s way more convenient for North Georgia fans to go to one of the 6 games or so in Athens with easier and cheaper ticket availability than the 1 in Jacksonville.

But the reality is... a ton of people who go to Sanford have never been to Jax.

I don’t see the issue here. If anything this shows that the impact may be even less than I think.

The game means something to S Georgia.

I have no doubt about that but think you’re overstating the actual impact.

My main concern would be for the actual students who lose what I think is one of the coolest parts of the UGA experience.

I don't know. A handful? A good bit? I know there are UGA fans in jax just like there are UGA fans in big cities all over the southeast.

There are more UF fans in FL than UGA fans if that's what you're asking. I'm sure many of the UGA fans in jax also have a UGA connection (family, alum, kids there, etc) beyond simply the game being played there.

Why do you keep saying this? The vast majority of the S. Ga fan base watches the game on TV just like folks in metro Atlanta and people going to the game either in Jax or Athens are the EXACT SAME PEOPLE.

It not like the team is on some type of bus tour and stopping at every S. Ga town from Macon to Jacksonville.

It's the same for UF as well. It would be a sad day to lose the game in Jax.

It is part of what makes the SEC the SEC IMO.

Bolded for the psychos that have taken over the board.

Easy.

Jacksonville FL has a ton of UGA fans.

They live in Florida. They root for UGA.

They care because the game is in Jacksonville.
It is no different than S Georgia who could just as easily pull for FSU, Florida, Clemson, or Auburn because of the closeness to seeing live college football.

okkk...and? This doesn't prove anything.

now you're making your assertation with literally nothing to back it up. I bolded the important part for you. How do you know WHY John Q. Dawgfan living in jacksonville pulls for UGA? YOu don't, you don't have the slightest clue. And you DAMN sure can't ponit to ANYTHING that says they are fans BECAUSE the game is played there.

You are so off the rails it's not even worth discussing with you anymore.

You think the Auburn fans in Columbus Georgia are all related to alum?

Ha

You can't see how proximity to games matter?

Why then is the Atlanta Gator Club one of the largest out of state Gator clubs???

From the web page:
The Atlanta Gator Club® is a 1500+ member organization of alumni, parents and friends of the University of Florida

Coming from a guy who grew up not too terribly far from Jax, that game definitely gave me a connection to UGA that I likely wouldn't have had otherwise. A good number of people I grew up with and was friends with were either UF or FSU fans - largely due to proximity. If Ga/Fl hadn't been played nearby, who knows what kind of miserable shithead I could have become as a potential UF grad... it's bad enough as is.

ETA: For perspective, as a kid I didn't follow the Falcons, instead opting for the Dolphins and later the Jaguars (which brought it's own special brand of misery). With pro sports, I didn't have a huge affiliation either way though, so it was easy to adopt the Falcons once I moved to ATL. But it was easy to have no affinity for the "Georgia" based team when Atlanta felt like another world at the time...

You can't acknowledge that the Tennessee fans in Dalton are UT fans because of location? They all have to be related to alumni?

You want to follow Kirby on this that you will follow any argument in your head even though you know that location matters.

How many GT fans in Atlanta are related to alums?

Metro Atlanta area is 5.5M people... "largest out of state Gator club" = 1500+ members... Wow. That is impressive. A whole .027% of the area population.

They would be all over an annual game in Jax now for the money alone.

So you’re saying that UGA’s South Georgia fanbase is cheering for UGA because of one game in the area vs. 7 games in the area at FSU, Auburn, or Clemson. I feel like if proximity was the deciding factor, UGA is losing that battle with or without Jacksonville.

All you gotta do is give them something tangible.

No different than Auburn with the Columbus area. Or Tennessee with the Dalton area. Or FSU with the Albany area.

Give them a reason to cheer for you (i.e. going to a game) and you can command a presence.
We have a huge Dawg presence in Jacksonville.
It is the same thing.

S Georgia either matters or it doesn't (it isn't heavily populated).

Maybe 30 years ago but it's simply not the case IMO.We get perhaps 40k tickets to the game and they are at a premium these days as the program as grown and become more successful.

Are you talking season ticket holders or sidewalk fans? HUGE difference.WGAS about percentage BTW there are far more people in N Ga than S Ga and S Ga ain't exactly booming these days (only 4 schools in AAAAAAA)

You know this how? What reason would a season ticket holder who lives in Atlanta not want to go to Jax?

You act there's thousands of Tix available for the game and non season ticket holders who live in S Ga just pack up and roll into Jacksonville and go to the game.
