Yes it does...it makes the Swamp Rats travel 1/2 the time & lets the Dawgs enjoy an hr. drive to Atlanta!

So the UGA/UF game leaving jacksonville means some fans will now be alabama fans. Man that's rich. Those South GA folks are probably GA fans because, oh I don't know...they live in Georgia?

would not be primetime every year if we lose WLOCP and it turns into another good college football rivalry.

It probably would be because There will almost never be a better sec game on that day.

One of our beat writers was discussing media days last week and said that our coaches and players actually got to Birmingham quicker than they got to Atlanta for last year.

At present for WLOCP our team flies out of Athens to jacksonville then buses to their lodging. It's not like their trip to the game is much longer than UF's. If the game were in atlanta it would be the same thing, in no way at all would our trip be "half the time" as theirs, unless we flew from athens to atl which I doubt we would.

For the reason the Dawgs should be able to play in their backyard since the Swamp Rats do in Gainesville.

As the other poster said: "The S. Ga. people for Jax. are the same people in Athens the rest of the year!"

It's a big state. They are probably closer to fsu, UF, Clemson, Auburn.

Bainbridge is about the same distance to Tuscaloosa as it is to Athens.

How old are you? I remember kids growing up with Michigan and Miami gear because that was cool. These kids lived in Atlanta and UGA wasn't any good. It isn't rocket science that the big name schools fill a void in the market when you let them.

This is hyperbole. UGA would still be the biggest state university for people in South Georgia and wield a huge amount of influence. I refuse to believe the loss of one weekend per year in north Florida is that influential.

WHO THE F cares about HOW they get there. The argument is ~75 miles vrs. 300+!

This still does and always will happen regardless. You hold that back by being good much moreso than playing neutral site football games in the area.

What void? You're acting as though every town in S.Ga shuts down and everyone piles on busses and goes to the game. Its simply not the case.Once again, the exact same season ticket holder that go to Athens on Saturday are the same folks you find in Jax.They just have more Hartman Fund points.

again, so what? You're talking about people who have grown up UGA fans that have lived in GA their whole lives, odds are they are going to be GA fans. Teh location of one game out of 12 on the schedule doesn't affect that in any way.

yeah, because that's what kids do. When I was a kid I bought some chicago bulls hats because of MJ and had a jerry rice jersey. In no way am I a bulls or 49ers fan. I had them because those people were cool at the time. What kind of hat a 12 year old wears has nothing to do with the discussion.

There isn't a market void by the game not being played in jacksonville!

Because when you're driving 75 miles vs flying 300 it makes a pretty big difference on travel times..

You are comparing 1 weekend per year for the entire fan population in south georgia to...

1 weekend every other year for 10 kids who have about 12 other opportunities over a 2 year span to make up for that weekend.

Can you explain the hyperbole again?

The entire fan population is not going to the game. As others have said, it’s mostly the same people that go to games in Athens.

Those kids actually have some direct say-so about who actually wins the games and are therefore weighted more heavily, particularly in the mind of a HC whose job is to win games.

I disagree with this. If the game is moved, I’m almost certain JAX lines up another annual game. Could be rotating opponents. But, it would be really shitty to see something like FSU - Clemson not only step right in but actually embrace the WLOCP moniker.

You don't understand recruiting then.

Billions of dollars are spent each year in marketing. All of it has everything to do with that 12 year old with that hat.

Marketing is the persuasion of a favorable point of view. That 12 year old is going to remember that hat. And when it comes time to recruit, that favorable point of view is going to sway a "gut/emotional" response.

You don't see how Sam Pittman and Kirby Smart recruit emotional responses from the kids that they call upon?

I was referring to the uga poster who thinks that the game moving will create a void of uga fans in south ga. Apparently the game in jax is the sole reason that many people south of cordele are even uga fans.

I bet if you poll S Georgia fans, you would be shocked regarding the number who have been to the WLOCP.

I bet the percentage of fans who have attended dwarfs the percentage of fans in north georgia who have attended.

I understand your perception that "everyone who goes to Jax is already going to Sanford". But the reality is... a ton of people who go to Sanford have never been to Jax.

The game means something to S Georgia.

when I was 14/15 my good friend (who was and still is a UGA fan and alum I might add) used to wear a usc hat that said "COCKS" on it. Another a usc-w hat because it said TROJANS. These are KIDS that will wear somethign because they like the color scheme or think it's funny.

Your entire point is that the game not being in jax is going to make uga fans in south georgia look elsewhere to be fans. That entire premise is so ridiculous it's laughable.

Do you think a bunch of folks living in birminghmam/hoover/vestavia/homewood stopped being bama fans because the IB was no longer played down the street from them anymore?

Let's look at the converse.

How many people in Jacksonville are UGA fans?

Jacksonville is in Florida. They should be Florida fans. Right?

Don't they know where they live? Don't they know that they should be Gator fans?

You can't see that it works the same way in S Georgia?
