Will Kirby still be Georgia's coach in 3 years after he tanks with some great recruiting classes just like Richt?

Are you really expecting smart to get tired and lazy?

A game between Georgia and Florida would still be the most-watched SEC game that week far more often than not.

ETA: I would bet a solid chunk of the national viewership doesn’t know it’s in Jacksonville until they tune in.

Our recruiting fell off the deep end between '10 and '13 with the game being on CBS... obviously wasn't much of a factor then.

Who else are South Georgia fans gonna route for? They still can watch the games on TV and can go up to Athens. What "tangible" things do they need to "hold on to". BTW the narrative about this game being a huge deal for South Ga is way overblown IMO.The fans that go to the game are the exact same season ticket holders that go to Athens every Saturday.

We lost Chaney because UT paid em a ridiculous amount which we rightfully refused to match. You REALLY think schools like UT and AU are in better financial shape than us? They spend money like drunken sailors and neither has anything close to our reserve fund.

You seriously think people watch that game because it’s in Jax?

ONLY if you throw Atlanta in that rotation. Otherwise HOME (Athens) & HOME (Gainesville)!

You don't get a program/budget this big by snubbing $3M here and $3M there. As a single source of funds, that is a huge chunk of revenue

So if thats the case why not move the Auburn game to Atlanta every year or the UT game to Nashville every year? I mean if both cities can get us the same revenue deal as Jax wouldn't we be foolish not to agree to it? Wouldn't we be losing millions of we didn't accept the deals?

Let's whine to the SEC that it's now unfair for us to have GT & Aub. @home the same years!

The game gets the attention it does because of the atmosphere that’s been developed over the decades. Lose the WLOCP aspect and it’s just another game on the schedule to most of the country.

ehhhhh. At present yes, part of the allure and mystique around the game is being in jax but it's not like going h/h would make people forget. I mean when eyeballs tune in on TV they're just watching the players on the field you don't even see the city. The Iron bowl is pretty much unanimously considered a top 2 rivalry in CFB and going from legion field to home/home sure didn't diminish that.

So people on tv watch for the pregame party atmosphere or the split fans in the stands?

People nationally watch because it is college football in primetime. That is what they do.

It would not be primetime every year if we lose WLOCP and it turns into another good college football rivalry.

When it is not primetime, fewer eyes are getting the UGA brand.
And that makes recruiting nationally more difficult.

This is irking me but I associate "primtime" wiht evening. We are simply CBS's game of the week which is at 3:30. Anyways....we would still get the eye balls regardless of where it's played. Whether it's at 3:30 or 8pm, people tune into bama/lsu every year because it's a big time matchup. Same for osu/michigan, or texas/ou. People sitting at home on their couch don't care where the game is. Jax is abotu teh fans and the ambience, not the TV viewer.

Not sure why you think that the game going h/h means we're getting the 12pm SECN slot for some reason. People are still going to watch. I mean hell, pretend it was on campus this year, who are we getting bumped for in the 330 slot..SC/Vandy? AU/ole miss?

In a vacuum, they root for the hot ticket of the day.

Do you know how many Dallas Cowboy fans are in Alabama? I bet there are a ton of Golden State fans there, too.

In a void, fans will latch on to a winner. Basically, you are creating Alabama Crimson Tide fans if there isn't a UGA market pushing influence.

I'll agree to an Atl./Jax. rotation.
