I don't remember his exact quote, but Peyton Manning said something similar, and didn't catch the heat that Joe Burrow caught. I'm not sure exactly where I heard the interview. But he talked about a teammate from one of the smaller colleges being so impressed with the crowd in a game at Lucas Oil Stadium, and he said something like, "this guy has never played in the SEC."

To be fair, Joe has never played at Arrowhead. Having said that, he is in for a rude awakening. There is no place louder in sports and it’s not up for debate.

Our team couldn't get a snap off at Georgia this year, the noise made a huge difference in that game. If it gets louder than that in pro settings then I'd like to see it.

Glad LSU passed on him.

Yeah it freed up a spot for the granny raper for you guys.

And it in writers defense, he may have just made it for the 2nd half of a game in red stick, where its usually quiet enough to hear a pin drop at that point.

I doubt this northerner has been to any SEC games. Keep mocking LSU, Kelly is coming for your gump arse!

Fans can debate all they want but 99.9999% of fans have incredibly limited samples sizes. Even if you've been to a game at Arrowhead and Tiger Stadium, way too many variables such as time, opponent, quality of the home team, postseason relevance exist. Ive seen more players say College is louder. They should be the leading authority on the matter.

I agree with this.

I will also say I don’t know why there’s an assumption NFL would be louder. I guess just because it’s a superior league. College stadiums hold more people. Crowds are less corporate. More tailgating happens which means more per-game drinking happens.

All factors point to college

I've been to NFL games in Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, and Houston and there is absolutely no comparison to the crowd noise in the SEC.

SEC stadiums are bigger, no fans drink more than southern fans, and no rivalries mean more .

Tiger Stadium seats roughly 26k people more than Arrowhead so I'd assume the massive SEC stadiums are louder.

And most importantly to crown noise, most of the stadiums have had upper decks added or end zones enclosed. This helps to trap the sound. Not like Michigans stadium or the Rose Bowl.

NFL games don’t make the air shake. In the SEC, it’s hard to see straight because the air feels like it’s shaking like a bad TV reception.

Burrow heard the rowdy fans at Alabama, Aub, Ga, State, Aggieland. I don’t see NFL stadiums being louder.

I wonder who has the world record for loudest stadium.

It’s probably LSU.

To be fair, Arrowhead is probably the closest thing to an SEC environment in the NFL, but 90+% of NFL stadiums ain’t shite when it comes to crowd noise.

Hell, there are three or four Big Ten stadiums that dwarf most NFL crowd noise. College fans are generally way more raucous.

Oh, good points. Hadn’t thought of them.

(Pssst, Arrowhead holds the world record.)

SEC players have to get used to the smaller crowds at NFL stadiums... which probably average around 70,000 seats.

Haha Jacob Hester said the same thing to his coaches that back when he played with the Chargers. They were trying to get the rookies all prepared for 65,000 screaming fans. Hester told them no problem he played in front to 97,000 screaming fans every week in Death Valley.

FYI, the crowd at arrowhead did not cause an earthquake. TS is still they only stadium that registered the earth move.

NFL crowds don't compare to college ones. Agree with Joe Burrow.
