If Hurts is #2 then offense in the league is going to be painful to watch. Again.

Honestly, 100/157 (63.7%) and 14 TD to 4 INT between 1-20 yards is better than I thought it would be. It also shows that his completion % was not all because of throws behind the LOS (pop passes).
Clearly he struggled down the field, and we limited his passes to the middle. He was erratic and it was really bad towards the end of the year, but he wasn't miserable on non-deep stuff during most of the season. He missed some, but he wasn't throwing the ball into the dirt until the last few games.
He clearly has improvement to make, and if he doesn't then he'll get pushed or replaced by Tua in all likelihood. But I'd like to see that same chart for Eason, Fitzgerald, Bentley and any other SEC QB.

That's a pretty weak list.
It says something that 3 of them were true freshmen last year.
Hurts on any team other but Bama wouldn't be in the discussion.

There are several teams (with a smart OC) Hurts could have had a similar season with last year - LSU for one.

Nicky Fitz will be a much better quarterback throwing the ball this year. Mullen has some flaws but developing QBs is not one of them

Let us borrow some 5 star talent to surround them and we will get right on that.

Against FBS teams with winning records Fitzgerald threw 8 TDs and 7 INTs and completed 52% of his passes.
Eason was a true freshman who played behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league(undersized with no depth or OT bodies), and had no go to receivers to speak of, other than a 5'7" 175 pound Isaiah McKenzie. You can't say the same about Hurts. If Eason played for Alabama, his numbers would be far better than what they were this year.

Next year's first and second team all SEC quarterbacks not on the list. Awkward.

True freshman QBs have difficult times wherever they are starting. It's been that way for all of time.
It doesn't matter if you are throwing to Randy Moss, reading the defense, finding him and throwing to the spot isn't easy for an 18 year old with no seasoning or practice time.

Maybe, maybe not. He threw the ball high a lot, he made quite a few bad decisions and at times he was throwing the ball straight into the ground.
Eason clearly has the best tools of all of them, but he struggled with the same true freshman QB stuff that they did. The game is way faster than anything he'd seen before, and it would have been that way at UGA, Alabama, Washington or Southern Cal.

Idk why everyone is missing the fact that McElroy came out with this list to say one thing and one thing only...
Bentley > Eason
Bentley > Eason

Shae Shae gonna transfer as soon as that nuclear bomb drops. Better get your backup ready.

Yep, and another advantage for Hurts was not having to play against Bama.

I didn't say he never struggled or that he doesn't have things to work on. He obviously does. However, bad offensive line and receiver play certainly doesn't help. Hurts played behind the best offensive line in the SEC, and he can run unlike Eason.

No he didn't. In fact, they were pushed around by most of the better defenses we played this year, and even by UT-Chattanooga.

I'm sure your fingers are crossed.

LOL, absolutely not. Fitz didn't throw the ball any better than Hurts.
That's absolutely the fricking truth.
