No one cared as long as the money was piling into Oxford. The new property condos, restaurant and hotel industry, national recognition, merchandise sales, etc.
With the collapse, those behind the scenes who have their monies tied up in a program that took a 180 nose dive, will make the moves.

I give Coach O credit for going 100% all in. He made the necessary moves in the offseason that needed addressing. He didn’t coach scared. He coached like a man who knows it’s today not tomorrow. He can’t be blamed for the OL injuries. BUT this offseason he has to build the OL up. And he has to keep looking for an OC with a modern offensive game plan and he can get along with (he doesn’t have to hire one right away, just keep looking as long as the OL gets fixed).

However, the offense being ranked near the bottom of all statistical categories in the SEC and nation is a concern.
We all agree and have a want for the offense to score 30+ regularly with 300+ passing yards and 100+ rushing yards per game. No one is saying otherwise.
Where I differ from some here:
Had Canada stayed, his O would have been dissected with enough video from last season to shut it down. IMHO, If Canada was the OC this year, LSU would be 1- without transfer Joe Burrow and 2- more resembling the preseason prediction team of 6-7 wins.
Ensminger is not the long term answer, BUT with a healthy OL and the D, his offense wins games.

This board was full on split.
Half of us felt LSU could win 10 regular season games.
The anti-O faction were certain LSU was a 6 win team and would finish 5th or 6th in the SECW.
2019 looks to be favorable for LSU. And to finish this season with 10 or 11 wins would be a great way to enter next year!
Of course those who had LSU only winning 6 games, will dance with joy if LSU finishes with 9 wins.

honestly would not want to play Georgia again.
It would be like 2003 all over again. LSU would beat UGA again in a neutral field rematch, with the current UGA QB. If the started their freshman duel threat, he would be confused against LSU’s D and turn the ball over like J.Lee 2008.

Played on a neutral field these 4 would win (against this current team, not next years):
Alabama (5/5 games played)
Clemson (4/5 games played)
Nortre Dame (it would be a close game LSU should have won) (3/5 games played)
Michigan (2.5/5 games played)
Nortre Dame and Michigan are 50/50 toss ups. LSU could and should beat ND 5/5 games. But the Irish have a 4-leaf clover recently that bites LSU in the rear at the end of every game. Michigan has a DL capable of getting after the QB. And with the challenges LSU is having on the OL, it’s hard to read a game like this.
LSU has the D to slow down EVERY offense including Alabama. After these 4, none of the other teams have a D capable of stopping LSU’s offense from grinding out enough points to win, and LSU’s D would score pick-6 on their pass happy offenses.

LSU has won 7 straight. a7m is at home and 7 wins is a lackluster showing for a coach being paid $75mil. a7m would be thought of as being due for a signature win and this is the last chance they get.

If it were to happen this season then yes it would be a big upset.
I don’t get what is keeping Paul Johnson from having a consistent 8-9 win team with the occasional 10 win season and playing in the ACCCG.
Don’t say it’s his offense, bc he has already proven he can win with that system. It’s the Auburn effect he has there. Winning season and compete for division title. Followed by crappy season and barely winning a conference game.
He’s been there long enough to have recruited his players and should have the next man up ready to take the place of the last guy.
And when he either retires or GaTech fires him, it is going to take the next coach 2-3 years to purge Johnson’s players out and get back to Chan Gailey type players.

Advocate report
quote:
Michael Vallery, 49, fled the scene after fatally stabbing Stefanie Vallery, 51, around 8 p.m. in the 13000 block of Honey Drive, said East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks. The couple was separated at the time of the attack.
quote:
Scott said her mom and stepfather were in the process of getting a divorce when he showed up at her house Sunday evening and an argument ensued. The two had been separated for several months, but he hadn't completely finished moving out of their home on Honey Drive in part because he spent most of his time working offshore.
quote:
We were trying to put pressure on the wounds, but she had already passed," Scott said. "Then he kicked down the door and came back again. I turned to him and said: 'You killed my momma.' He just didn't care — he ran up and stabbed (her) some more and ran out."
quote:
Baton Rouge activist Arthur "Silky Slim" Reed — who has spoken publicly about the need for criminal justice reform in the aftermath of the 2016 fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling — was present at the scene Monday afternoon. He said he is Scott's father and described Stefanie Vallery as "just about the best person that I know."
quote:
Detectives are asking anyone with information about Michael Vallery's whereabouts to call the Sheriff's Office at (225) 389-5000 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP. Authorities warned people to avoid approaching the suspect and instead call 911.

Neat to see the blowing of the balloons the night before
We lined up at 4am and started pumping up the balloons the year I marched in the parade. IIRC it took about an hour, at least, to get the balloon off the ground.
Also, it was cold that year and the wind was blowing. But controlling that massive balloon against the wind as we turned from a street without wind onto a street with gusting winds kept us plenty warm.

Thanksgiving Day 1999 I marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as one of the team pulling the Snoopy balloon.
Snoopy was Macy’s holiday stuffed animal that year, and it was also Snoopy’s first year back in the parade. So we were the first big balloon of the parade.
At the end of the parade, we wound up at the Macy’s store where you see it end on television. And in a banquet room upstairs, Macy’s staff had a huge buffet dinner for all event staff.
And all I have other than the memories and photos, is a t-shirt with Snoopy and the parade emblem with the year.
Greatest Thanksgiving yet!
