Wasn't really the conclusion of LSU fans. That was first said on ESPN, by talking heads.

The excitement was over the 1st game under a 1st year head coach and new players all around who put on an absolute dominant performance on both sides of the football over a major school. Sorry to be excited. Next time we’ll schedule a real patsy and curb our enthusiasm better.

2020: LSU 34, Mississippi State 44
2021: LSU 27, UCLA 38
2022: LSU 23, Florida State 24
2023: LSU 24, Florida State 45
2024: LSU 20, USC 27
2025: LSU 17, Clemson 10 (fool's gold)
So yeah, we're excited.

Clemson hasn’t given up 50 points in 13 years and that was against jameis winston. LSU only needed 3 quarters. To look as polished as lsu did in the first game of the season is rare.

Here's my take:
1. LSU looked really good and will be much improved this season.
2. Clemson might very well be a very bad this this season, and they will likely lose several more games. Could be end of the road for the Dabo era.
3. Last season we thought LSU was a top 5 team all because they beat Clemson and it turns out LSU was not very good.
All 3 of these things can be true at the same time.

How dare us be excited to win 51-10 against a two time national champion coach and great program (even though they’re on the decline). We lost to fricking Vanderbilt and Houston last year dude. BK had us in dog fights against Nicholls St, LA Tech, and we almost lost to Western Kentucky last year also. We get to celebrate this moment.

LSU was 7-6 last year; I can understand the excitement of new blood and a big win.
It will be interesting to see if LSU bucks the trend of a new coach coming in, doing well early, and being fired no later than their fifth year:
Gerry Dinardo (5 years):
By year 2 had taken an LSU team that had 4 straight losing seasons under Hallman to a 10 win record, and won at least a share of the SEC West two year in a row (1996 & 1997). Two bad seasons afterwards and was fired in 1999.
Nick Saban (5 years, was not fired):
Huge improvement, won a national title, never had fewer than 8 wins. Left for the NFL after year 5.
Les Miles (12 years, but 5 years after the national title runner-up before being fired):
Les took over for Saban and won 11+ games three years in a row, including a national title in 2007. Then won another 11 in 2010 and won the SEC and was national title runner-up in 2011. In his 5 years afterwards won 10 games three times and never had a losing season, but was fired 5 years after the 2011 peak.
Ed Orgeron (5 years):
Won 10 games in 2018, then a national title in 2019. Went 5-5 and 6-7 his final two years, then was fired.
Brian Kelly (4 years):
Won 10 games in his first two years, then 9 the following. Last year went 7-6, was fired.
If the past is any indicator, it seems LSU gives you *ROUGHLY* 5 years. Les is an outlier, but in a way it looks like his clock started ticking when he refused to change in the rematch against Alabama. Everyone else, no matter what they did, was more or less evaluated on their 4th and 5th seasons.

Clemson hasn’t been the same for quite some time. I think everyone knew with Debo stance in the transfer portal situation in NIL and everything they were not gonna be going that route, and as a result, they’re not keeping up with the times in college football. Meanwhile, LSU literally bankrupt themselves spending money for anything and everything to get back to be in relevant like they were not too long ago because that ship was sinking.
