re: What has been Mickey Loomis biggest mistake
Posted by LSUZombie on 8/12/26 at 8:53 am to FlyingTigerBo
Loomis' biggest mistake was letting Payton convince him that Dennis Allen was ready for another head coaching job and could continue the same success that Payton had here.
Had this been any other situation, Loomis would have been fired with Allen, and some would say he still should have been, but since it's not, he was allowed to stay on and possibly got lucky with Moore and Shough.
I'm not going to be upset if Loomis stuck around long enough to get lucky again, but all of his other mistakes pale in comparison to giving Dennis Allen a chance to ruin this team for three years.

Seems legit.

So Cam Jordan hurt his hamstring last week?

Saw news of this last night and nothing on this board. Appears it might be more serious than thought and is requiring further evaluation.
16 years playing healthy and now dinged up in camp.
This camp has been rougher than normal with the injuries. Seems every team is dealing with it in some capacity.

His speech deserves to be in the Hall of Fame of Hall of Fame Speeches

If anything it shows how quickly time moves. Moves even quicker when the times are good.
Still remember when we signed him (I wanted to draft Matt Leinart ) and then when we extended him to an “all time high” $10M a year contract.
I was in Canton a few weeks ago and got to see all his stuff on display. It was a nice trip down memory lane.

Have the kinks been worked out yet? Anybody been recently?
My friend and I went last Saturday and both of us thought it was excellent. Burgers were huge, fries were great, and our meals came out fast.
We both got the jalapeno smash and for me it was one of the better burgers I've had recently in Baton Rouge.
Had another buddy go later that week who is kind of snobby with food and he reported back the burger was really good.
So I'd say give it a try.

Wild how someone can just start a rumor and it spreads like absolute wildfire.
Glad it isn't true.

Saints got a Steal. They were Saying.
I mean I'm not mad at the Saints for trying to get a talent (2nd round pick) for not much (some late round picks), but I expected the dude to maybe try to get through camp first, not just flat out retire.
But in a way it's good because it's one less player taking snaps who doesn't want to be there.

I knew the moment that trade went down that we flushed a late pick down the toilet.
With hindsight, no one is ever wrong.
That sucks. Was hoping for a big year from him. Hope he can recover quickly and next man up.

Is hobby card collecting worth it right now?
I'd say yes if you have a ton of disposable income or if you have a particular player or team you want to collect for yourself.
I went to one of the card shows in Gonzales a few months ago and honestly it was overwhelming for someone who hasn't been in the hobby since I was a child in the 90s. Tables filled with cards costing hundred to thousands of dollars each.
What's funny is you can get a card of a true hall of famer and legend of the sport for a good price, but the newest rooke who hasn't proven dick goes for thousands.
Card collecting is a mix of playing the stock market and gambling. You hope to buy low on the players who will skyrocket in value and then sell high. It's rare to see people collect for the enjoyment of the hobby anymore and almost all cards, regardless of sports, comic book, anime, etc are just so ungodly expensive now it's not even worth it to me.

Just got out from seeing it in IMAX. It was a great experience and a fun epic movie. Theater was packed as well. Can’t imagine not seeing a movie because a black woman and a trans person made up 5 minutes of a 3 hour movie.

Mackinac island I'm good with my one trip there. We spent 3 nights there and that might have been one night too many.
This is how we feel. We did two nights and literally did everything one could do on the island:
- horse carriage tour
- bike ride around the island
- shopping
- Grand Hotel tour
We ate at some great places but it was very expensive.
- Pink Pony and Icehouse for lunch
- Chianti and Carriage House for dinner ($$$)
- The Chuckwagon (breakfast)

Our room was in the Straits lodge and it was not worth the $500/night. They had portable AC units in the room and it was super noisy. We turned it off during the night and then couldn't sleep due to being hot...
Funny. We went in June and also stayed at Mission Point. We originally chose it because we were bringing our dog (part of a two week road trip) and it was the only pet-friendly resort on the island. We then decided he wasn't about that island life and kenneled him in Mackinac City and it was the right choice.
BUT... we still stayed at Mission Point which for the money felt like we were staying in an outdated dorm room.
The rest of the vacation was perfect and the island is absolutely beautiful (and expensive as hell) and thankfully our AC didn't make too much noise, but yeah for $500/night it was pretty lousy.
