Have to say this one surprises me.
The city prides itself on all the biking/running trails it has.

That would help. We still aren't SEC enough.

I'm going to say there's some correlation with hot, humid weather. I am at my fattest yearly at the end of August because it's too damned hot and miserable to do much outside.

That’s some really impressive math considering Alabama is dead last in education.
Some of you guys just walk straight into this shite
Louisiana ranks ahead of only 2 states

A lot of fat people moving in.

I guess they don’t count Dependas or the list would be way different.

So you mean to tell me that pretty much only cities in the south and other red states are fat? Hmm I wonder what “bipartisan” source this is

They clearly didn't analyze Greensboro, Alabama or Selma, Alabama where even 60% of kindergartners are morbidly obese.
Why stop there..? Go ahead and include Eutaw, Lowndesboro, Union Springs, Marion and any other town in the black belt with majority black population..Rascist.

I frequently travel to the UK and visit cities like London, Taunton, Bristol down to the hamlets and villages like Long Ashton.
I am constantly amazed at the lack of fat people in the UK.
The UK is a public transit/bicycle country and it's a joy to see all the hotties walking about every day.
If I do see a fattie it's usually an American visiting.

Having lived in Texas and seen with my own eyes obese people pushing around 8 year olds in strollers while eating pork fried butter I say this list is legit.
All 100% fact.
ETA: I literally saw a huge woman at the state fair in a fat person scooter pushing a stroller that was straining to contain - let alone support a kid who was entirely too big and entirely too old to be in that thing rather than running around.

I really wish Alabama, MS and Louisiana residents would quit arguing about the order of the 47th - 50th rankings. It is embarassing for all parties

I mean one drinks tea hot with a lemon and the other drinks it cold in a giant jug with a pound of sugar (and frick the lemon)

The bottom three on that list are interchangeable. Serious question though. I always attributed Louisiana being last in everything to the crooked politics. What is the case for Alabama?

Resistance to change - both by the government and its populace, and in many cases an even higher level of resistance from the government for adequate funding.
And nobody wants to talk about it due to the racial connotations and tight rope you have to walk to avoid being called racist, but part of it is also a culture issue. I guess we can argue about what created the culture, but the fact of the matter is that there are large portions of the population (including white people) that do not value progress, education, self improvement, etc.

All sounds familiar lol. Thanks for the detailed response.

unfortunately all but a couple of those are SEC cities regardless of whether a school is there. What can I say, we have good food in the South that is generally not exactly healthy. Disappointed in my hometown. What do we need to do to move from #2 to #1?

You tiptoed around that about as well as can be done. Props.
