I'm sure the takes on his latest quote will be rational and fact-based.
quote:

“Obviously, I wish the timing was different. There was no way around it. Tried to do everything possible to still coach and, obviously, that was (athletic director Keith Carter’s) decision and understandable. Do I still wish that had happened? Yeah, I do. I wish that would have been allowed to happen. Maybe we would have won it all.”

He can spout this stupid shite all he wants. Literally nobody from Ole Miss wanted him to coach the playoffs.

Ole Miss would have lost to Georgia had he stayed

Just depends on if Pete gives up 43 points again

And maybe you go for it twice in the UGA game and we lose. The way it played out had to be done that way.

Another day, another opportunity for Lane to speak about Ole Miss rather than build up his own team.

At some point Lane does need to move on...

It's been good publicity for us.

Kiffin is objectively a good coach. However there is no world where Kiffin beats UGA in the sugar bowl. He wouldve gone for it instead of taking field goals. Ole miss is worst off without Kiffin going forward as a program, but Pete definitely did better than Kiffin wouldve in the playoffs

Everyone can agree on this except LSU fans

Well I mean he was trying to sabotage the season

Go watch the Oklahoma game. No rational coach trying to actually win would do what he did

He was trying to lose it so he could say “ welp it definitely can’t be done in Oxford”

It’s so clear when you watch with that hindsight since he wanted to leave so badly

Let's say that's true, if he just scores a touchdown on one of those drives, it's more valuable than two field goals.

He only went for a 4th down attempt once in the first matchup (outside of the final drive), and it was successful. A 16 yard run on 4th and 1 and they eventually scored a touchdown.

The reason why Ole Miss lost to Georgia in the first matchup is because they let Georgia score on literally every drive, not because of 4th down attempts.

You are saying that he still gets a touchdown lol. They could turn the ball over or get stopped again on 4th down. These were not 4th and goal situations. Kiffin shouldve beaten LSU with Jaxon Dart in Death Valley but his own stupidity of going for it makes it that he has zero wins in Death Valley lol

Kiffin is a good coach but no shot he beats UGA in the playoffs last year

Why are you so convinced he would even go for it? Analytics say to generally go for it on 4th and 4 or less.

The Ole Miss CFP field goals were 4th and 5, 4th and 9, 4th, and 10, if I remember correctly. Most analytics say to kick in those situations. Especially in an indoor, neutral site game.

I really did give Lane the benefit of the doubt for a long time. Hell I would've done the same thing he did if in his position other than maybe giving out ultimatums. But he really wants to make this thing as toxic as possible at this point. And the media will keep asking the questions they need to ask to get the answers they want to get in order to stir the pot.

Yeah Lane almost always goes for it in those situation, irregardless of what the usual analytics book says. Especially in games like that where he feels like he needs to chase points and can't afford to "settle" for field goals.

Maybe he'll become more conservative at LSU, but over the last 6 years he always went for it in those types of situations.

We'll never know...

Because Kiffin has coached my team before and I have watched him for almost 20 years. I wouldn’t expect a sidewalk fan to watch. Either way he didn't coach and they won so we know him not coaching was the right move for two games at least

Can you point to a game where he did that last year? I'd like to research it.
