He created a strawman argument by saying he was arguing LSU fan statements related to money (coaching salaries, in his post) when the poster he was replying to didn't say anything about money. A complete strawman argument.
Then he moved the goalposts to NIL money.
I find his initial assertion regarding Kelly's salary being his motivation for leaving Notre Dame, interesting, as Notre Dame's AD at the time was very forthcoming and publicly said that Kelly didn't even allow Notre Dame to attempt to match the offer.
If money were his motivation, why not see if your current job can at least get close? I'm sure Notre Dame is richer than LSU.

It doesn’t show up as direct pay, it isn’t taxable, but it is part of the overall value of a salary compensation package someone would consider. If NIL was not important to coaches then Kelly would not have pledged $1 million of his own money towards NIL.
Again, any rational grownup understands that all these benefits absolutely are a part of a compensation package. It isn’t uncommon for people to move to a job with a lower base salary because the overall salary compensation package is better. Only a simpleton, someone who isn’t very experienced with jobs, or someone stricken with blind homerism would argue otherwise.

Other benefits, almost like recruiting advantages (including NIL money) facilities, etc.
Almost like Lane's entire reason, which he alluded to in the OP. The same thing Kelly said. Access to better players, more talent.
The moved goalpost helped us successfully come full circle.

I didn't say it wasn't a motivation, I said it wasn't the motivation. And now we're back to why does any top job pay ridiculous salaries?
Because that's the market.
The salary could've been Kelly's motivation, I don't know. He certainly didn't give Notre Dame any chance to match, according to their AD.
If I liked my job and had a better offer elsewhere, I'd give my current company the opportunity to match. Perhaps that's just me.
In the case of Kiffin, he apparently received very similar offers from Florida and Ole Miss so it would appear that his salary wasn't the primary motivation.

Not necessarily. Ole Miss may be behind LSU but not that far. There are characteristics that Ole Miss has that is better than LSU. Just because he left OM to go to LSU doesn’t mean it was because it’s better.
