I am, prove me wrong.
Old era —> New era:
No NIL —> NIL deals and athlete compensation
* No direct player payments ? Revenue sharing with athletes
* No transfer portal ? Year-round player movement
* No free movement ? Immediate transfer eligibility
* Stable rosters ? Annual roster rebuilds
* Signing Day was everything ? Transfer portal season is just as important
* High school recruiting dominated ? Portal recruiting is equally or more important
* No NIL collectives ? Booster-funded collectives
* Limited booster involvement ? Boosters help fund player compensation
* Four-year player development ? “Win now” roster building
* No college general managers ? GMs and personnel departments
* No roster budgeting ? Revenue-sharing and salary cap-style planning
* Limited player leverage ? Players have significant bargaining power
* Small schools kept stars ? Top talent transfers to bigger programs
* Conferences were stable ? Massive conference realignment
* Regional conferences ? Coast-to-coast super conferences
* Traditional rivalries ? New conference schedules and rivalries
* Four-team College Football Playoff ? Twelve-team playoff
* Conference titles were everything ? Multiple teams from one conference can make the CFP
* NCAA had stronger control ? Courts have reshaped college athletics
* Amateur model ? Professional-style business model
* Simple recruiting calendars ? Year-round roster management
* Few player agents ? Agents are common
* Limited tampering concerns ? Tampering is a constant occurrence
* Players rarely left early ? Annual portal entries after every season
I can keep going if you want me to.

I do think, however, that we were capable of giving him a greater ride to greater heights under the old ways.
How so? I mean I know y'all were close to landing Tebow that one year, but what could y'all have offered him then compared to LSU that would have led to these greater heights?

Again, I said sure, things have changed, but not as much as some want to believe they have.
Indiana is pointed to as the indicator of change, was it just the change or is it Cignetti? No way to know, we'll see going forward.

What quantifiable resource could Alabama offer Saban in 2007 that LSU couldn't?
That's an answer I wanna know myself, knowing the context we're operating in pre-Saban Alabama era

Go look at how many players on that roster are transfer portal players and get back to me.

Let's also not forget Indiana wasn't as beat up as the competition in the playoff due to their arguably easier schedule

That's a simplistic take. LSU took a ton of portal players, most higher ranked than Indiana's guys, and they didn't win a natty.
The portal itself isn't the reason for Indiana's success.

I believe what he is saying is that the
grift in Louisiana and the over importance of football in relation to what is really matters will help him achieve
his goals.

You are proving my point. LSU spent top 3 money in the sec last year and sucked. Indiana spent money smartly last year and won a championship. Indiana is historically one of the worst, if not the worst power programs in the country. You are telling me they had similar chances to win a championship in the previous era? That’s insane if so.

Did Nick Saban say that or did Lane say that's what Saban said? Big difference.
Nick has never refuted it so yes he did say that when Lane engaged him for advice as did Pete Carroll

Is LSU actually a better job than UGA, Texas, OSU, Alabama? No it is not.
LSU literally just had the most signees for Nike endorsements of all the programs in the country and it was by a big margin, they had the first offensive lineman signee with Nike ever, AND obviously more 5-star recruit commitments here in less than a year than at that other place in 6 years
sorry bro
bro? Ok, I'm going to assume I'm getting into an argument with a 14 year old. Assuming anything Lane Kiffin says is factual is taking a huge leap of faith on your part. Nick Saban doesn't have to refute it because he knows only LSU fans would actually believe it so why even address it.

Convenient excuse.

So is the change primarily the cause or Cignetti and his staff?

I don’t like hyperbole but Kiffin just dropped a fricking nuke on Hiroshima Mississippi.
