That’s why Perkins left Alabama for Tampa Bay. Hugh Culverhouse gave him both jobs, complete control of the operation. Which is a rarity.

Kirby might have peaked at UGA at least for now and his value ain't ever going to be higher in the near future as long as Nick Saban stays at Bama.
He's a sparkling 1-5 vs Bama and facing 1-6 next September because he has to take his team into TTown and face a veteran Bama team with a lot back. And he isn't going to have 19 and Mc Whitedude to bail him out.

Any insight how? You need wins to help brand. There is no Falcons brand but losing outside of a brief Dirty Bird / MC Hammer flare in the 90’s.
Trying to not hijack thread but curious. Tangentially related to Kirby as $$ and brand are factors used as bait to land him.

Kirby to Atlanta. Coaches for 3 years and then comes on down to LSU.

There will be many opportunities to coach in the NFL for Kirby. Maybe the Patriots?
Anyway he will be mentioned for a bunch of jobs.

No way Kirby leaves for the NFL after building UGA to what they are right now.
No LSU fan thought Saban would leave them for the NFL.

You guy never, ever think things through logically do you?
So, Coach Saban came to a 4-12 teams and improved then to 9-7 that a 5 game improvement. Then he goes 6-10 in his 2nd year, but alas, coach Saban wanted Drew Brees as a free agent and the team decided to get Daunte Culpepper instead fir a 2nd round draft pick. In all honesty, it might have worked, by Dante blew his knee out in 2005 early on. One year after Coach Saban left Miami went 1-15.
So, Saban took talent bookended by 4-12 and 1-15 records, and produced a record of 15-17 over two years, going 2-2 vs. Brady and New England.
I mean, almost .500 in the NFL after taking over a 4-12 teams is great work, lol. He got much more out of the team then the talent they had it seems.

I dunno, Kirby doesnt seem like the NFL type. That being said, NIL maybe making it so that he sees what college football is turning into. At least in the NFL you have contracts with players instead of essentially having to re-recruit them every year to stay or compete with dozens of teams when it comes to money for players. He might think hes young enough to take a stab at it for a few years and he knows he would have no problem getting another big time college job of pretty much his choosing should it come to that.
Georgia is his alma mater so that might play a part of it, at least for a few more years. A few bad years (small chance of that happening) and the fans will turn on him and no one wants to be fired from their alma mater. Right now he is a god to them. Its very interesting for sure

What is the biggest prize in Football? Something that Saban could not do? Only one coach I believe has won the college championship and then the big game. I am talking about the Super Bowl. Saban can not be called the best of the best because he could not do it Maybe Kirby wants to try.
If he really wants to try then he shouldn't go to one of the worst franchises in the NFL.

Corporate sells of tickets and being in a City with a pretty sizeable young (20s and 30s) population in a football starved region of the country. Metro Atlanta high school games will have 5000 at them between 2 teams that ain't winning a state title...Atlanta and metro Atlanta will watch and attend any football game...

Meanwhile, Kirby just built a real nice new home here in Athens.
