In all seriousness he’s a great coach but sometimes the hard nosed college coach doesn’t translate to the NFL
I actually think Bowl Cut could work at the next level. It’d just be does he have enough contacts at the pro level to hire a solid staff?

It almost always doesn’t work that way.
Leave a job. The organization moves on. They hire a really good coach. New coach is winning at a high rate. Kirby wants to leave NFL. Georgia job is already taken. Georgia isn’t firing a coach that’s winning 11-12 games a year that has a massive payout to hire Kirby back.
Sounds like when LSU had Les and Nick begged the Tigers to take him back.
Or that’s the story that’s been told around here.

Kirby will end up hating the NFL and once Saban retires he’ll take the Alabama job…
Alabama fans are the dumbest fricking people.
You believe he’s going to leave his almer mater where he has won two national championships for Alabama? Because why?
Stop being stupid.

Why not? Other than Rich Rod, we usually get whoever we want.

We won 2 Nattys in a row in the CFP era you idiot
Saban couldn’t even do that

Taking this with a grain of salt and no dog in the fight, but if this is an option it wouldn’t surprise me if Kirby would weigh the options of leaving a stressful job due to the current college football climate or trying something new without the year round hassle and still be close to home, or at home.
It seems I remember him losing an assistant who was just fed up with the amount of time coaching at the college level took out of his life.
Plus if he can have some success I believe there is nfl retirement money as well. He’ll make plenty of money either way and should be already set for life.
Pretty tough choice.

Meh, Saban won two in a row in the BCS format which might have been harder to do than the CFP. Calm your jets…you guys were thisclose to a three-peat.

Kirby goes to the Falcons and eventually decides he wants to go back to college right about the time Saban retires. Kirby goes to Bama. REC doin work.

Kind of harder to get into a two team playoff than a four team playoff, don’t you think?
Math isn’t hard at all, btw.

That’s not how stats work

You can see UGA sweat…
tDecline after playing Saban continues.

So now it’s stats rather than math.
Make up your damn mind.

Makes sense
1). Nothing left to prove in college
2). Nothing left but go down or at best try to hold serve and manage expectations
3). Big one: NIL sucks. Go to league that has established rules to deal with paying players rather than deal with this college WTF shyte
4). Stay in Southeast
5). Low expectation franchise with runway
6). Answer inner question - could I do it and have success?
7). Be hailed a God if actually do have success
Conclusion:
He gone.

No way Kirby leaves for the NFL after building UGA to what they are right now.
I agree but if he’s even going to try the NFL, now is the time. His stock won’t get higher.

You like stats eh? How you like 1-4? That’s Kirby’s stats vs Alabama.

Why would he go to a lesser job?
Posted on 12/18/23 at 8:43 pm to geauxnavybeatbama
Kirby is a college coach. His style and personality only work in college. I realize most successful college coaches at some point get the itch to try the NFL and see if the can replicate the success they had on the college level in the NFL but it rarely works.
Kirby is a rah rah and coach with fire type of guy. Kirby will chew out guys if they need it and he also can play super cheerleader and it’s hard for that type of coach to get players that will make more money than the coach by a mile to respond to that. Didn’t work for Saban although Saban would make a better pro coach today than when he was with the Dolphins because he has mellowed out a lot. I get it though Kirby may have to go try so he can answer the question if he can coach in the NFL to himself. He is a college coach though and that doesn’t make him an inferior coach. All it means is his style is more suited to the college game.

Kirby Smart leaving Georgia would be a Nick Saban leaving LSU mistake for him.
