I don't see why Texas or Oklahoma would be afraid of Alabama. Nick Saban won't be there forever. And hell we might have a big enough lead in the series to just wait Saban out. We 100% have a big enough lead if we only play every other year.

9 conference games instantly add 1 loss to half the conference, worse ranking for the low and middle rung SEC teams means lower SOS for everyone....and lower ratings for the top teams......

Also means less game inventory for ESPN which makes it more likely they'll put conference games on ESPN+

Ultimately IDGAF what the configuration is so long as A&M is playing texas, Arkansas, and LSU every year.

He wasn’t the only one with terrible math. Some one had the divisions with 9 & 7 teams. I don’t get common core math so maybe I’m missing something

3 perm 6+12 above is the correct way to do it.

Screw pods. We want tu, LSU, and Arky every year. No old B12/SWC pod to appease tu Arky and OU at the expense of our LSU series. 6+12 is best way to keep them games we ALL want.

Are we doing this yet again? Two divisions are not going to work unless the SEC intends to play about 12 conference games per season. At eight games, you would literally play teams in the other division once every eight years - it’s just two separate conferences with a joint championship game at that point.

Oh true just ignore the labels. i was just putting it together geographically anyway. Will look a little different when they factor in competition and rivalries.

Questions remain-

-how hard do they try to keep the Bama/Tennessee "rivalry"?
-Auburn/UGA?
-Will they stick UT and Aggie together depsite their protests (sure hope so)

Hey Oakie, you're the new kid of the block...you'll go where the conference sends you

now that being said, I'm hoping on a 4 team pod arrangement

No you don't. With divisions/pods, you could play your three divisional rivals annually, rotate through the other three divisions, and have a permanent cross-divisional rival. That would be an eight-game conference schedule that allows you to maintain most traditional rivalries and play everyone in the conference at least once every three seasons. It would actually be a massive improvement over the current set-up.

What I do think needs to happen is a two-tiered conference championship, if you just do the top two teams based on conference record but have four divisions, you would unfairly exclude the winners of the toughest divisions from the conference championship most years.

LIKE WHat?

The 8 game ,3,3,2 , is great, with or without divisions or pods, personally I like

3,3,2 with 2 divisions or no divisions and one championship game.....

Having 2 championship games just eliminates more teams from expanded playoff....

Let me translate this, “Please don’t make us play the entirety of the West every year or Brent will jump to the P12 before we join.”

It does NOT matter what the SEC does here, all adding TexASS & Oklahomo does is further water down this cheezy conference with mediocre teams. Listening to Sanky ballwash everyone, you would think the SEC is the NFC South or some sh!t. It's not, trust me.

Wait till they expand the playoffs, and these tropical teams have to go up north and play football in the cold & wind at Big Ten stadiums in December and January...we'll see what you HeeHaw's got then.

No wonder teams like GA and Bama dominate every year, their conference always claims to be some "tough" gauntlet of a schedule, but it's basically filled with AVERAGE teams and creampuff teams who pretend they're good, but really aren't. The SEC at one time was loaded, now it's nothing more than a glorified Sun Belt Conference. Like I've said, lock down your trailers, the Big10 Conference is the new bullies!

By far the best solution. Not concerned about tiebreakers anyways since conferences will drop title games when the playoff moves to 12.

However it works out, I don't want to play the East teams once a decade. If we just expand the divisions, LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State will feel like they joined the Big 12 rather than the other way around.

We've got to work schedules in such a way that it still feels like a single conference.
