I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m really not, but I never thought I would ever witness a 12 win season by Ole Miss. I’m sure many of you Ole Miss fans agree with me.

I get that Ole Miss fans are mad that Lane left. But Lane also showed you and everyone else the potential of your program. I used to think Ole Miss was a complete dogshit program like Miss State or Arkansas. But now I view Ole Miss as a program more like Florida: if they have the right coach, they’re a threat.

I think as the years go by, Ole Miss fans will grow to better appreciate Lane’s time in Oxford.

Lane overall did a great job at Ole Miss. Had the exit happened almost any other way, I think most Ole Miss fans/alums would have been like, "good bye and good luck." It wasn't the leaving (although leaving for somewhere other than LSU would have been nice). It was trying to burn it down on the way out. But that's the Lane way, honestly. It's the risk you assume when you sign up.

This thing is absolutely going to 16 teams
There's no reason to give Notre Dame special treatment. If they're good enough, they're in, if not, they're out. Should be evaluated like anyone else, without preference or prejudice.

These takes are mostly just boomers moaning about a fictional "good ole days."

Nostalgia is killing this country.

Joining a Conference will kill Notre Dame as a National Brand

The SEC is never going to push ND to join a conference. If push came to shove, the Irish would likely join the Big 10, which would widen the financial gap between the leagues while simultaneously narrowing the ratings gap. It's not in the SEC's interest, so it's not going to make that push.
Of course--it's where Jimmy gets all his clients together
Unlike LSU, we'll be able to attempt both.

I hear Memphis is lovely this time of year. Even smells like corndogs.
MHver3 is a long time realignment hack. Could there be conversations? Sure, but I doubt anything is imminent.
I think we just want the uncertainty to end one way or the other

He's high risk high reward. He can win a lot and keep you (but especially himself) right in the national conversation.

Can he win enough to get a championship? Remains to be seen. Honestly, I'm not sure what motivates Lane, but he has an inherent restlessness.

Depends on if you have the right coach. Aggy has a ton of money and they haven’t won shite.

I'm not saying the coach is unimportant--obviously the coach is. Only that it's not as important as it has been in the past.
Winning the championship this year? Probably not, probably don't have the defense.

Winning a game or two? Yeah, we could absolutely do that.

It's a small playoff. You don't have to win that many games to do it.

I was told the magical charm of the square would keep him in oxfords forever. That block of magical bookstores and bars and boutiques and administrative buildings will echo in eternity as the sole accomplishment of human existence. Did you know they have a double decker bus? They have chicken on a stick too! Don’t even get me started on the library and the grove! How could he possibly not want to stay in their amazing metropolis of 25,000 people? What an uncultured jerk!

I had no idea you could write a message board post with a fat pencil.

He's done an amazing job at Ole Miss, no doubt. But I have trouble with the "new heights" argument considering that he has gotten us nowhere different than where Freeze got us. That may change this year, and hopefully so. The only betterment that Kiffin has over Freeze at this point is a single 11 win season, where Freeze's was 10 wins.

I want Lane to stay, for a host of reasons, but in the NIL era, if you have a good coach, you'll stay in the hunt with the right amount of money. We've got the cash and the will to stay relevant.

Again, hope he stays, but if he doesn't, it's not like the ceiling is going to instantly cave in on the program. Ideally, he'd stay about 3 more years, getting to the playoffs one more time.

He is what he is. This is part of what you get when you get in business with Lane. It's what we signed up for.
Gundy didn't forget how to coach. Had a fall out with some of the cigars at Okie Light, but he can win.
