Sorry for your loss B&B…
Had to bury my LSU roommate and best man when I married my first ex-wife. He had a recurrence of bladder cancer that ended up as untreatable.
As a lot of y’all know, I presented his flag to his widow.

One of the odd things I got involved in at the Waterways Experiment Station was a mid 1920's commission for an Aid in the Coast and Geodetic Survey signed by Calvin Coolidge as President and Herbert Hoover as Secretary of Commerce.
Did some digging and after a couple of phone calls I was able to get someone at NOAA who could explain it.
The rank of Aid was the USCGS equivalent of a Second Lieutenant!

Well, if they are going to have a Battleship designation, they should be named after states and pick up at BB-72.
The completed Iowas were BB-61 to 64.
Kentucky and Illinois were BB-65 and 66 which weren't completed and scrapped.
BB-67 to 71 were the five ships of the cancelled Montana class, Montana, Ohio, Maine, New Hampshire, and Louisiana.
