All that money and not 1 red penny is allocated to a female cheerleading squad.

If I was an aTm fan I would be pissed to bring in that much money but be so perpetually mediocre. Kind of explains Old Sarge now that I think of it.

Our contract negotiators make the Hillary Clinton Campaign look brilliant by comparison.

Waiting for the t-sip alters and shitposters to start chiming in about this any minute now.

About $30 million of that A&M figure is capital contributions to the stadium project that will wind down over the next five years. Still, we are light years ahead of where we used to be. However, I don't think we have an extra $10 million laying around that's not be used if we decide Sumlin has to go--the AD will be crossing his fingers hoping that results on the field don't force his hand.

Bama football made a $47.7 million profit, but total AD profit was only $18.7 million.

Actually, basketball usually makes a profit, too. Those lesser sports are pretty damn expensive.

How do yall drum up that much revenue?we have huge donation numbers. i think we reported over 70 million in donations

isn't a lot of that money to pay for the stadium expansion? therefore, it's more like a capital donation and not ongoing.

sorry, didn't see post above. ie, never mind.

Can't remember the numbers, and I'm working right now so I can't research (yes, I can troll a sports board, however. It's complicated.) but I seem to recall that football is the most expensive overall (not surprising, given the number of players) and expensive per player of any sport. Good thing football generates a profit from its revenue because it would be shut down quickly if it didn't. A few smaller colleges and universities have done just that, for that exact reason, in fact.

They've won twice as many SEC titles as LSU since joining in 2012.

So much for our 14-15 record revenues being a one time accounting trick.

Hang the banner.

Why would we do that?
Large amounts of $ aren't a new thing at Texas A&M University.
It would be inexcusable if we didn't top this list.

I remember Vince Dooley once said that football pays for everything at almost every school. He said mens's basketball may add a bit, but almost the entire revenue of a school is football.

I'm sure exceptions are Kentucky, UNC, Duke and a few others.

Serious question.

How do yall drum up that much revenue? It's a tremendous amount of money for being a fairly middle of the road program (I don't mean that as a jab but just speaking truthfully).

I would wager that we have very similar ticket sale numbers for most sports minus basketball.

Because it's Texas and it's football. Not to mention there are many successful engineers that come out of A&M that donate. The petroleum trade, particularly in Houston and Beaumont, where A&M and its petroleum engineers are well-integrated.

And though the poster showed the difference between A&M and Alabama, the real crown jewel in the state is beating UT -- who came in at #2.

There has been a concerted effort in the state to surpass Texas, and they have. A great deal of that has to do with being the SEC, and another large part has to do with the fact that A&M has a deep, historical and personal grudge against the University of Texas. And they will do anything to show that they are better for leaving them behind.

We're talking decades of being pushed to the side by UT, and all of that pent up anger and irritation of being disrespected by their fellow state school. You bet, that has a lot to do with it. A&M, no longer constrained by Austin and the crap that comes with being in a conference with UT, has now expanded in the ways they always knew they were capable.
