re: Big 12 is screwed

There's plenty of land out in West Texas (hundreds of thousands of acres) that belongs to the University of Texas Board of Regents, and which puts your cow pastures in College Station to shame.

You see, it has oil under it.

And I notice that you don't dispute that Aggy was founded as a branch of the University of Texas. FAIL.

The land in College Station had oil under it, as well, if memory serves me.

UT has gobs of money. But A&M made the smartest choice from a financial standpoint to leave the Big XII. Perhaps the best choice they made ever in terms of athletics.

So much so, that I actually believe A&M has surpassed UT in terms of athletic revenue. I could be wrong, but I believe that's the case.

I always found the founding of both Texas and A&M to be somewhat muddled. Don't doubt you're correct, but I remember something about how either A&M or UT was delayed because Texas was annexed by the United States.

I know your all racists. But come on you should be able to tell the difference between certain players. I mean even the daughters of your rich white alumni only need photos from their daddies of which recruits to take home on recruiting trips.

More like, I live in God's Country and only fly over your state when necessary. Hard to see anyone from thirty-six thousand feet.

Don't follow Ole Miss or MSU, obviously. Except when I watched TCU absolutely throttle Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl. Just know about that guy knocking around some poor woman because I saw a .GIF of it.

Though your lack of remedial grammar skills -- it's "you're" not "your" -- is obviously indicative of one of the worst educational schools systems in the country.

Maybe you should worry more about learning how to write at a third-grade level, and less about who sleeps with whom.

Is this from the guy that beat up that lady?
Worse than the Brewer probation? 4 year probation, 2 year bowl ban, no televised games for one year, reduction of 24-13?

Worse than that, you think?
Certain teams like Ole Miss, MSU, Kentucky, Vandy and so on, simply exist so that they can be kinda good, but never great. Their job is to prop up the premiere schools in the league, so that those schools can go on to achieve greatness.

Alabama, Florida, LSU, and the other top teams have to stand on the shoulders of someone.

Those schools I listed will never win a national championship in our lifetimes. Effectively, they only ever play for pride. So, whether it's a school on probation or not -- there is never anything more at stake than just that.

I thought people knew this by now? This is the way the game has been and always will be.

Dark Blue Bloods:

USC
Texas
Miami
Miss. State
LSU
South Carolina
Florida State
Arizona State
Stanford

Lighter Blue Bloods:

Cal Fullerton
Arizona
Long Beach State
UCLA
Rice
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Virginia
Okla. State
Florida

Cal Irvine
North Carolina
Cal Santa Barbara
ULL
Tulane
A&M
Oklahoma
Ga.Tech

Cal State Fullerton has won a national championship in baseball, every decade for the past 40 years. Other light blues listed have at least won a national championship once.

Yet, Mississippi State and FSU are listed as dark blue bloods, despite the fact they've never won jack shite.

Makes sense.

Well, you were the one that injected who could beat up whom in a thread asking if anyone appreciated a particular facet of country music.

You have to admit, that's out of left field somewhat...

Merle was a tiny 5' 5" at 14 and scrawny (he only grew to be about 5' 8"), which is why he needed a gun. Having a gun doesn't mean you can kick the shite out of someone, however.

And there are a lot of stupid bastards in the Q. Doesn't mean you're a badass.

Mayweather is like a Mongoose v. a striking snake. Dances around, throws a couple punches, and either waits for the opponent to get tired or he works his stats for the decision.

It's how Leonard beat Duran.

There was absolutely no lead on those punches by Leonard. He'd end each round with a flurry, and those patty-cakes were enough to carry him.

Duran was the very definition of machismo. He was solid in each of his weight classes, but he's the greatest lightweight that's ever lived in my book. 62-1.

Give me Outlaw country. Waylon, Merle, David Allan Coe, Willie, Cash.... that dude in the video looked like a fig that would get his arse kicked by the guys I mentioned

And yet, I'd put money on Don Williams to kick the shite out of anyone on that list.

Regardless, aside from Merle (and Buck Owens by extension), Coe and Cash -- most Outlaw Country was from my home state. It's what I grew up on. But I still like Honky Tonk here and there.

I still have all my original Waylon albums on vinyl. And some of the ones he did with Willie, Roger Miller and Jesse Colter. Colter was hot as balls back in the day. Sexy as hell.

Any fans out there? I miss it.

Classic Country
I've lived in both NOLA and Charleston. When it comes to the food...

They're close, man. Real close.

What did USC do to LSU in 2003 besides not rightfully get to play them for the title?

The main thing that USC did was claim to be national champions, without ever playing in the game. And all the west coast media got behind them, trumpeting their mythical championship.

Even though the school agreed to the BCS and the formula to determine a championship, when they saw they had some publicity behind them -- they tried to discredit LSU's claim. They had USC players on TV saying why they were the "real" champions, and the media just gobbled it up.

Later, when USC legitimately (albeit illegitimately, since it was later forfeited) won the BCS championship in 2004, the next year they said they wanted to Three-Peat. As if LSU's BSC championship didn't even exist. Once again discrediting LSU's win and trying to say their AP championship was the "real" championship and LSU's didn't count.

And Cheaty Pete and Eddy O went along with that garbage, lock-step and file. Meanwhile, they cheated their asses off and destroyed their former school, and now Cheaty Pete continues to get popped in the NFL and Eddy O is the coach at LSU.

Oh, sweet irony....

"When I took over as governor of Arkansas, our state was dead-last when it came to reading and literacy. But due to some hard work, with the help of the programs I implemented, we shot right past Mississippi!"

Money wise, A&M beats everyone.

But success wise, I'd say UF.

Ole Miss will never hire a proven winner at a Power 5 conference, so it really doesn't matter.

It's always the proverbial up-and-comer. Diamond in the rough. Yada-yada-yada.

The school will be trying to cut its losses and will go cheap, cut some incentive-laden contract, and hope for the best. Business as usual.
The weird thing is, for its diminutive size and lackluster teams, the Indy Bowl has had some pretty amazing games.
